The worst experience in over fifty years of visiting France. We went before 1pm for Monday lunch. We were given a table outside and the waiter came to take our order. I ordered the menu du jour and my wife ordered a salmon main course. The waiter asked if we wanted a drink and I said some water please. After 15 minutes my entrée arrived but no water or bread came. I ate the entrée and the waiter came and took the slate that the entrée had been served without a word or any eye contact. 35 minutes later our main courses hadn't arrived and still no water or bread. We were sitting in the full sun 29 degs. Luckily I had water with me. Everyone around us had been served, even people that arrived a long time after us. I could take no more and went inside to complain. I told the man behind the bar how we were being ignored by the waiter and that I was very unhappy. He told the waiter to get our meal but I said we no longer wanted it and walked out to our bicycles across the street. The waiter followed us and said the meal was on the table. It had appeared instantly when I complained. I said we no longer wanted it and he said I would have to pay for the entrée. At last the waiter acknowledged me after ignoring me for so long. I went back inside to pay and told the man behind the bar that I may be retired but I'm not invisible. He said it had been human error but I know rudeness when I see it. We are Irish and would never dream of treating a visitor to our country like this. We were in the hospitality business for over 30 years and welcomed visitors from all over the world. Enough said but rudeness is rudeness in any language. No apology...

The condition took our order without comment. When we got our hamburgers, however, they came without fries and only with a loveless salad. The Hamburg was unfortunately only inferior quality. The bun was a cheap one that fell apart easily and the meat was also cooked rather poorly. On request we were told that the deep fryer was broken. When asked if we could get part of the price refunded because of the missing fries, we were turned down. Due to the rather less filling meal, we were still hungry (due to the lack of fries). We were then offered a dessert as compensation, which we declined. But we received the cheeky comment: "Then you can't be that hungry." It's a shame, because the location of the restaurant and the furnishings were very nice. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant because of...
Read moreWe came here in late December with our dog and they could not have been more welcoming. They spoke great English, even though we were trying our best to speak some French. They made a fuss of our dog, and were just lovely all round. It’s a great cosy atmosphere, right across the road from the castle, and an all round perfect place for a few drinks or a bite to eat. The beer is also super strong and a great range to choose from too. We tried their special ‘Christmas beer’….. two was more than enough….draft...
