I visited this cozy little spot with a foreign friend, and the staff seemed genuinely surprised to see us there — apparently, it's not a place frequented by tourists. (Shoutout to the French local who recommended it to us!)

On our first visit, I ordered the French onion soup and escargot, while my friend went for the plat du jour. Every bite was rich and comforting and prices were reasonable. The ambiance was equally warm, and the staff even gave us both a small souvenir, which we thought was really cute.

I couldn't stop thinking about the dishes our neighbors were enjoying that night, so of course, I had to go back. This time, I decided to step up my French cuisine game — I went with aligot and medium rare beef ribs (see photo!). I was initially hesitant about rare meat, being a first-timer, but medium rare was the perfect choice. That meal was nothing short of delightful.

After these two visits, I can confidently say I’m in love with French cuisine. This little restaurant gave me the best kind of...

I like this place a lot. Quite small place but with many tables located outside. Very helpful waitress, speaking very good English :-)

Tartar made of vegetables (only) was great. Very refreshing and super tasty. With addition of local bread it haven in my mouths!

Beef cooked in red wine with pasta and little onions/ mushrooms was also very good. I almost do not eat meet at all but this dish was very tasty.

It's worth to mention that there is also a great selection of vines. Both white and red.

Totally recommend this place if you want to eat in a nice (quiet!) place, with great atmosphere where you can enjoy the food and...

We were initially pleased with the prompt seating upon our arrival and quickly decided on our order. However, our experience quickly deteriorated. The server responded rather sharply to us, and despite waiting for 30 minutes, we were not taken care of or even given the opportunity to place our order. Regrettably, we felt compelled to leave the restaurant without dining. This was not a decision made lightly, as we seldom walk out of establishments. We hope this feedback is seen as an opportunity for the restaurant to improve its service for...

We returned to Le Charolais after a previous visit 16 years ago during Rugby World Cup 2007. The staff were very welcoming and full of smiles which always makes for a pleasant meal. With our limited French the English speaking staff made it all very easy. The Steak was tender and tasty and the freshly shucked oysters offered up the salty taste of the ocean. We will return, maybe not after 16 years this time.
