Me and my friend came here for our last night out in Paris. The food was great and the restaurant is beautiful inside. However, we did have to wait 15minutes outside for our table despite having reserved a table for a specific time.
Secondly, the service was incredibly…odd. We waited a long time to place our order and the staff were strange to say the least. One waiter would stare at us as he walked past and as we were leaving he followed us out of the restaurant asking us questions about “what we are up to tonight” right up until we closed the door behind us.
Additionally, two of the other waiters made comments about my friend’s breasts. We had ordered a cocktail which came in a cup with breasts on it which we found funny, until, not one but two separate waiters couldn’t help themselves but comment on my friends body in reference to the glass. This made us both extremely uncomfortable. All 3 of these waiters were out of line and out of place to be making their customers feel ogled at while we were there for a nice dinner the two of us.
A fourth waiter asked us twice why we gave the restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 after we paid online (which fyi, you can only do with a credit card and via their website which is not warned beforehand and could have been a bigger issue if I did not have one since my friend does not). We were clearly uncomfortable with the line of questioning which felt accusatory the first time but then he came back to ask again 😭
I/we are not generally people who leave bad reviews for restaurants (especially when the food was so good) but we visited this place last month and we both still have a bad icky feeling about the whole evening, so it felt necessary to do something. (And maybe warn girls to...
Read moreExcellent wine suggestions, tasty food, wonderful service. Overall, the experience was incredible. Our server was ready with wine suggestions after we ordered our main dishes. The quality of food is worth the price.
The Burrata antipasto is enough for two to share. The tomato purée and oil add a delicious flavor to the stretchy and creamy cheese paired with light and airy bread with a slightly (but good) chewy exterior. The tagliatelle ai funghi had mushroom in every bite without being overpowering. The Sea, seiche & sun was beautifully infused with langoustine bisque, not too strong, with pieces of squid that added a nice texture. The mousse univers is a dreamy, light chocolate dessert that is big enough for two. The coffee paired well with the dessert and is full and robust. The limoncello is a perfect way to end the meal on a sweet and tart note.
Overall, East Mama is one of THE restaurants to try while in Paris. Make sure to reserve at least a half day in advance during the off season.
Apologies for the very late post, yet all of these comments still stand. An absolute must for Italian...
Read moreTrying a Big Mamma restaurant was on our bucket list when visiting Paris. Although we hoped to get into Pink Mamma (fully booked), I’m glad we got to try out East Mamma!
The tables are very crowded and close together which was a drawback to us. The menu and payment is all driven via QR code so there isn’t a lot of “service” to speak of. Other than dropping off our drinks and food, no one really checked on our table. Some people may prefer this style of dining, but we enjoy the interaction with our servers.
Now on to the food… we ordered the cacio e pepe and the Margherita pizza with added coppa and straciatella. The noodles were made in house with an excellent Al dente texture and the sauce was generous plus flavorful. We really enjoyed the Neapolitan style pizza crust’s pillowy texture, felt the pizza sauce was lacking in flavor and a bit watery leading to a soggy middle, and the added toppings were excellent. Overall, a solid pizza!
Another plus (for dry/sober folks) is that they have a couple of nonalcoholic cocktails on the menu.
We would definitely give other Big Mamma restaurants a try...
