La Belle Epoque — Restaurant in Poitiers

We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and this time had friends with us who were visiting the area. The waitresses were organised and friendly. We ordered, in French, and all was fine until some woman (thin, black hat, tattoos) came out, past our table and started muttering about 'les anglais'. I didn't quite hear what she was saying but the intent was clearly not friendly. It appeared she knew the owner/waitresses and we even thought she might have been part of the establishment. She later left, walked past us again and muttered again about 'les anglais' and 'angleterre', within earshot of the waitress, before saying goodbye to who, we assume, was the manager/owner. Unfortunately I couldn't hear the full sentence but it was clearly a disparaging remark by her manner and the fact she said it twice to our table.

We had been perfect guests, undemanding and friendly and ordering/speaking to the waitresses in French, so if she is part of this business it is disgusting that she speaks about her customers in this way. Likewise if she is known to the management and is allowed to behave like this to their customers, unchallenged, she is damaging not only their reputation but their business as we will not be visiting again and will discourage others from doing so. A great shame for what, for us, has always been a very welcoming...

Nous sommes venus à 14 ce midi. Première erreur : on confond une sauce roquefort avec une sauce au poivre. L’entrecôte n’était pas très tendre, et dans les lasagnes épinard-chèvre, on cherche encore le chèvre… La béchamel était tellement liquide qu’elle coulait partout.

Ensuite, les desserts : les crêpes n’avaient aucun goût. Les bananes à l’intérieur étaient alcoolisées, mais personne ne nous avait prévenus. Mauvais point, car si j’avais été enceinte ou sous traitement, cela aurait pu poser problème. Le banana split, lui, était servi avec de la glace vanille, mais il manquait une boule : j’ai donc dû choisir un autre parfum. Et pour couronner le tout, il y avait UNE MOUCHE dans le dessert ! Quand je préviens la patronne, elle a clairement l’air de croire que je mens. Elle nous propose de l’offrir, mais cela l’agaçait visiblement et elle ne s’en cachait pas. Elle me propose aussi un remplacement, donc logiquement offert. Pourtant, au moment de l’addition, surprise : le cappuccino est facturé.

Je vais lui en parler, mais elle est sur la défensive dès le début et n’arrête pas de répéter ce qu’il s’est passé, comme si je n’étais pas là. Je lui dis plusieurs fois que j’étais présente, mais rien n’y fait. Un employé finit même par me dire : « De toute façon, ça a été payé, on ne peut rien faire ».

Certains plats et desserts sont arrivés alors que les autres avaient déjà presque terminé. Le magret de canard était mal cuit et tout était fade, même le cappuccino. Quant au vin rouge, il était presque transparent, sans goût, et manifestement coupé à l’eau, d’autant plus qu’ils n’ouvrent même pas les bouteilles devant nous sans oublier que le café au lait n’est pas sur la carte mais que le verre de lait a 2,70€ si et que si on veux un supplément lait pour un café au lait c’est 20 gentiment de plus mdr

Et heureusement qu’il n’y avait pas plus de clients : pas d’œufs (donc pas possible de commander d’omelette), pas assez de glace vanille, et l’équipe semblait complètement dépassée.

Et on était sans une salle à part qui avait pas l’air faite pour accueillir les client on était entre les congèles la cuisine et une salle réservée au personnel

Bref, on comprend la note de 3,5 étoiles : ils ne les...

We sat down "at the wrong table" and the person working there told us off in French, even after telling her we didn't understand. We were brought to a different table at the terrace in the back, which has a nice view so that was fine. The other waiter was nice but it took very long to see him, especially after receiving our food. It ended up taking so long we left without getting the desert that belonged to my child's menu (and we did pay for the full menu). They seemed understaffed for a busy afternoon, which was unfortunate. Food was fine and there's a restroom with changing...
