Le Mogador — Restaurant in Rochefort

Excellent meal, lovely location. Discovered after reading reviews.We come to Royan regularly but had never walked as far as Le Mogador. The extre 5 minutes on foot were definitely worth it. Located just above the harbour near the ferris wheel the view back across the bay is beautiful. A terrace and 2 indoor spaces. Great value for money. Menu offers choice to the non seafood lover with plenty of other dishes. I had a moroccan speciality dish which was wonderful, and the moules charantaises went down very well too. Interesting apéro choices also with a charantais twist. The staff were very good, friendly and professional, it lost a star only as it was a bit slow....but it was very busy. The bread, the butter, the wine and beer were nice. For the rest, do not bother. We had a Moroccan style salmon with fenouil; stg we could have made bttr at our house with dumb cooking technologies. As aperitif we had a plateau de charcuterie and it was not good as well. The cured meats tasted not fresh. I we did not finish the plate as we were worried not to become sick during our outing. Staff was fine, nothing worthy mentioning but were not able to provide further assistence after speaking out about the lack of taste. Not...

3ème fois pour moi au Mogador et certainement pas la dernière : la vue, le service, la gentillesse de l'accueil et du patron, les serveurs qui répondent aimablement à toutes les questions, la possibilité de remporter la bouteille de vin non finie, tout est parfait. Qui plus est en plein été dans une ville où il y a, à mon sens, peu de très bons restaurants (et j'y vais depuis 45 ans...). C'est confortable, toilettes grandes et propres (oui, ça compte aussi pour moi), et jolie déco, jolies assiettes, belles présentations. Quant à la nourriture, pour cette fois j'ai repris le couscous, qui est copieux à mon goût (j'ai eu du mal à finir, notamment avec 3 morceaux de poulet, et pourtant je mange bien), bien épicé, le jus à part pour doser comme on aime, la semoule impecc' et les légumes géniaux. Quant au dessert, superbe et délicieux, pour ma part tartelette chocolat cacahuète, avec le bonheur de découvrir que ce n'était pas trop sucré comme le sont parfois trop les desserts à mon gout, et en face un thé à la menthe copieux (3 verres minimum) avec corne de gazelle et cigare au miel, maison, frais et bons (dixit mon père qui en raffole et repère vite les mauvais). Les prix sont justifiés pour du frais et fait maison et copieux, d'autant qu'il y a des plats abordables notamment en menu. Un petit bémol car il en faut bien un : ça résonne pas mal, et quand c'est plein et qu'il y a des enfants qui crient, ça peut être un peu bruyant, mais il suffit de venir un peu plus tôt ou un peu plus tard pour avoir moins de monde, ou de profiter de la...
