We spent the Easter weekend at Manoir de Rétival. This is an outstanding place because it balances comfort and class whilst still being down-to-earth. We received a very warm welcome. The room we had was lovely, very spacious, with attention to detail and a terrace. The bed was very comfortable and good food is never far. There are some lovely forest walks around and the local town Caudebec-en-Caux provides enough diversity for a walk or two. What makes this beautiful place special is the owner and chef David who combines skill and experience with true passion. The ten-course menus are a sensory expedition for the taste buds; mine was a wonderful roller-coaster of flavours. We especially enjoyed the evening in the kitchen. It was impressive to see how well everyone worked together in the kitchen and Evan went out of his way to make us happy. The fact that most of the wines come in magnum bottles is a pleasant twist and will put some minds to ease. In case you want to treat yourself, pleasantly surprise your partner or want to make your stop-over special, look no further.

Okay.. this is something very special. Like VERY special. My wife and I stayed the night at Manoir de Retival, and it's an experience we will never forget. The place is charming and the staff is very competent and very polite. We really loved every minut of it. Now for the food.. I don't think our modern language is complex enough to praise this food and do it justice. Chef David Görne and his very talented staff are simply amazing. I truly felt in need of other praises than "fantastic" or "wonderful" because the food and the experience was much more than that. It's something my wife and I will never forget, and I hope that we are lucky enough to experience it again. We sat in the kitchen, met some wonderful people and it almost felt like a dream. The atmospehere is cozy, authentich and most of all extremly warm. I could go on and on, but again, I don't know how to give it the justice it deserves. Thank you all for a life time memory, and we hope to see you all again!

We ended up here by chance, and what a wonderful time we had. The waiter was very understanding and caring. We don’t regret the experience. Every dish was amazing – special mention for the baked oyster, and the foie gras – all beautifully made, presented, and tasty. Sitting in the kitchen enhances the experience, as it makes you feel like you’re invited over by a friend. We recommend the Manoir de Rétival without hesitation!
