I made the mistake to come here in late July for my birthday dinner. Food and atmosphere were good but not exceptional. My issue was that the service was so lack luster. Our waiter started off strong but really fell off through the night which is odd because it is not peak season so the restaurant was not busy. My guest was worried that the waiter would not come with the dessert and a candle despite requesting it. Upon departure the waiter asked each guest at the neighboring table if they enjoyed when they were closing out; as I closed out he says nothing as he doesn’t really care about my experience. I have not had any other unpleasant experiences dining at other restaurants on the island so this was very disappointing.
My credentials are I’m from nyc, love eating out, and I travel a lot. Additionally I speak 4 languages (including French and English) so it’s not miscommunication.
Pricing is normal, nothing to break the bank. I was with one other patron. We had a glass of wine each, sparkling water, one appetizer, each an entree, & dessert - bill was approx €260.

Read moreSella is a lovely restaurant having taken some of its DNA from Maya’s. Unfortunately our experience was one of ageism. As with many older couples, we now prefer to eat earlier and made a 7:30pm reservation. It was clear from the outset our server was dismissive of us and the objective was to turn the table and minimize the service to ensure we would not come back. While there were several lapses in service the worst was being presented the check without asking for it and when we had barely finished desert. Our waiter sat next to me on the banquet in a too familiar way and asked how much gratuity did i want to add. This is a fun restaurant with inventive offerings but if you are above a certain age, we are 70, there are many great restaurants in St. Barths that welcome your business. Sella made us feel like they did not want us to come back...
Read moreSella changed chefs from last year and the food is nowhere near as good Small portions and extremely high prices remain the location is quite nice overlooking the harbor the problem is the restaurant was bought by a big corp group and they try and get every last euro from up selling the food and pushing the truffles caviar etc Then asking for tips on top of a meal that includes service. I actually felt like I needed to take a shower after leaving What used to be a great authentic restaurant ie mayas is now a “clip joint “ So many better places to eat on the island And all of the above for mediocre food FYI if you like to speak to your dinner guests go to the early seating ie Can be very loud Laslty the wine list is very pricey and the somm has limited experience and...
