A pleasant tiny neighborhood joint. The menu is small, 2 choices of starter, main and dessert. For starter, we had cooked oysters in cucumber, cream and dill sauce drizzled with olive oil; and poached egg with pine kernels and artichokes in a foam. Mains were a fillet of sea bass with roast vegetables and fillet of beef with roast vegetables and potato mash. Overall, relatively simple but cooked to a very high standard, the only possible complaint could be beef sauce which was too salty for my liking. Dessert was a big suprise. Chocolate ball with kiwi and sorbet inside with hot chocolate cream poured over. Also a small tart with Maribelle fruit and vanilla ice cream. We enjoyed an excellent meal, probably the best during our holiday in Brittany. A lot of restaurants in Saint-Malo may focus on tourists, compromising on quality. Not this restaurant. On September 13, 3023 when we ate there, the two starter choices were either sardines or mackerel. The mackerel was served cold and was quite awful. The sardines were so-so. For the mains, the choices were duck or cod. The cod was quite nice, served on a bed of leeks. The duck, which 3 of 4 of our party chose, was tough. The worst thing about all the dishes was the presentation. The plating was very amateurish looking and unappealing.
