La Rencontre — Restaurant in Saumur

This place was absolutely amazing!! From the decor, the service and the food was spectacular. Upon arrival in Montrueil-Bellay we decided to book this restaurant last minute online (recommended to reserve a table online or call) They served us right away, the staff was super friendly and explained the menu throughly. And when we arrived we could smell how fresh everything the food was from the kitchen. We went during the summer so the menu was with dishes that can be eaten or found during the summer (for ex. sangria). From the entree to the dessert everything tasted wonderful, I couldn’t believe how everything was so well combined and perfect with taste. Everything we ordered was delicious, esp. the starter "Oeuf mollet aux champignons et lard croustillant", and also main: poisson - the trout with purrée / sauce, asparagus and grilled vegies. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and convenient seating. Still affordable prices....

Après un premier passage en novembre dernier durant lequel nous avons passé un agréable moment autour d'une cuisine sincère et déjà plutôt précise, nous y sommes retournés aujourd'hui. La progression est remarquable, le service impeccable, et la cuisine a bascule dans une dimension qui s'adresse dorénavant de manière très claire aux gourmets caractérisés. La terrasse très agréable a également joué son rôle dans cette expérience que je recommande vivement. La carte des vins a aussi évolué, tout aussi locaux mais davantage axée sur les cultures respectueuses du vivant (la région regorge de vignerons qui font à la fois bio et très bon, c'est un bon point de constater que ce restaurant en est convaincu). J'ai vraiment hâte d'y retourner pour voir si ça continue dans ce sens, mais d'ores et déjà nous sommes...
