La Terrasse — Restaurant in Thonon-les-Bains

This was our seventh visit to La Terrasse - which is normally an amazing experience, but not today. Even though we had selected 'outside table' when we booked online (and paid our deposit) we were placed on a cramped table, half under cover, with no room to move at all. If anyone on the table behind you wanted to move - say to go to the loo - you had to get up and put your chair in so that they could get out. It was completely rammed. When we mentioned to the chap who showed us to our seats that we had requested 'outside please', he said 'this IS outside'. Anyone who has been to this - normally lovely - restaurant would know that 'outside' meant 'out front', 'out in the sun', or 'out in front of the DJ where the space and fun is'. Rather than being the highlight of the holiday, it was a brief, cramped disapointment for all 18 of us. After the waitress had forgotten to bring us our drinks - twice - and we'd been sitting parched for 30 mins, we decided to leave. I think we just had a bad experience as did many others on this occasion. The sun was shining which made it very busy but it took almost an hour to get a drink, then the food came out which was a little underwhelming for the price. We have been visiting this restaurant for the last 15 years, the owner is a great host and it’s always been tip top, but on this particular occasion it seemed very disorganised, short of competent staff and sadly a disappointment for a large bill. I hope things get back to how they used to be. We will see again...

Came on a wednesday afternoon for a meal with the rest of my seasonaire team. The location of the resteraunt makes for beautiful views and the servers were really friendly but my overall experience here was poor. Im unsure if this occurs every afternoon, but through all of our meal there was a TERRIBLE dj playing AWFUL music over a very loud soundsystem and with smoke machines going too.
