This was out first experience to l'Hippi'curien for a celebration. Accessible location from la rocade next to the Hippodrome. Ample parking space. There was a choice between indoor or al fresco dining. Since it's summer, the restaurant planned outdoor seating. Sanitary Pass required. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The al fresco dining was lovely with soft warm lighting surrounded by a lushful garden. There is only one menu in the evenings. 49€, 20€ for "accord met et vin" (4 glasses if I recall correctly first 2 whites followed by a red and a sweet white) which changes according to each dish. Otherwise they have a good range of wine by the bottle. Every dish was just a wonderful experience, rich in tastes and flavours which went very well with each different ingredient. The waiter took his time to explain each dish, the ingredients, how it was prepared, he was very patient with my curiosity on how they made the doughnut with celeri-rave, temperature for the langouste which was perfect, the pork was a delight, you can taste the quality of each ingredient. The tuna cut was from the stomach, the best part of the fish...the dessert with wasabi rice wrapping was mind blowing. I feel that my photos do not do justice to the dishes. I was in a hurry to taste my food, not too bothered with the quality of my photos which I felt sorry later as I am not able to do justice to the chef who spent hours or days concocting this menu. Each portion was sized appropriately not too large nor small. I don't like the feeling of over-eating nor felt hungry at the end of a meal. The only one tiny thing that bothered me was the mosquitoes. Every garden in Toulouse is swamped by this insect this year due to the heat and humidity. I wish there was an anti-mosquito spiral or some lemongrass candles or whatever to keep the mosquitoes away while dining. Luckily I had an anti-mosquito spray with me and sprayed some on my legs. We loved the dining experience, the staff was polite and indulgent, I certainly recommend this restaurant and we...
Read moreThe gentleman, who I suppose is the head waiter, was making comments about our table with other customers. He probably thought he could get away with it when he listen to us speaking other language, unfortunately (for him) we were not on holidays. He also thought he could get away within serving a different wine when we asked for a second glass. He left our desserts waiting half way because he had to stop to talk to other table. Quite unprofessional, definitely not pleasant. The food is average and after such indelicacy tastes bitter, the service is long and is far from the centre. Doesn't...
