This restaurant was recommended to us and what a great recommendation it was! The situation is in what appears to be in a small Chateau which has been tastefully refurbished, there are no garish ornaments to make up for any short-comings in the food that one sees in so many establishments these days. The welcome was warm and friendly even for two rosbifs who mangled their language. The menu was not over complicated and the wine list very comprehensive, with great options for any taste or wallet. The food arrived promptly and what a delight it was; the chef has a touch of genius in being able to create dishes that were both subtle and surprising at the same time to the extent that one had to savour every mouthful to marvel on the flavours and the inspired combinations. Do not misunderstand me, this is not a shocking Heston Blumenthal experience, the combination of flavours was enchanting but never challenging. We will remember our visit to La Roche Le Roy as one of our best dining experiences ever and that is...
Read moreI never wrote reviews but felt compelled to. This was one of those life-changing dining experiences. If you don't know what French fine dining is all about, seriously, go there. You will be floored. The food was exceptional and beyond delicious. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and thoughtful. The setting was intimate and beautiful inside and out. Also, the staff were all wonderful. They were professional and respectful, and at the same time friendly and charming. I felt truly spoiled there. A point about the price: people say it is expensive and while it is not considered "cheap"--not the sort of place you go to grab fast-food and get out of there in 15 minutes--this is an occasion you set aside a few hours for--it is seriously worth every penny for what you get. It was very reasonably priced and they are very generous with the food. I have paid this much $$ at so-called fine dining restaurants in "big cities" and they are nowhere near this level. I would go back again and again as long as...
Read moreThe atmosphere and the building were amazing. The food was great as well and the chef very polite and willing to help us cause me and my friends are not fluent in French and we were struggling with understanding the dishes. The service though was the worst i have faced so far in this amazing country. The waiter was super rude. When he started talking to us in french as we didn’t understand anything i asked him if he can say it in english. His reply was that im in France and i should speak french. With such and attitude and aggressiveness that i was shocked and embarrassed for being there. I didnt answer anything to him i ignored him but he made me feel unwelcome and destroyed my night. Such a shame for such a lovely restaurant and chef to have these employees that can damage...
