Server was very unhelpful when we asked where we could get some lunch after he asserted that the kitchen was closed at 1:30 p.m. He then gouged us on glasses of wine that ended up being triple the price of the wine we asked for. The wine he brought us was apparently not even on the menu...? But we ordered off of the menu. We noticed that the couple beside us continued to be served their lunch even after we left. Although for us, the kitchen was "closed". I suspect that he heard our French Canadian accent and treated us accordingly. We have been treated with the utmost respect everywhere else we have visited in the south of France. If you visit the beautiful village of Oingt, I would certainly not recommend this establishment unfortunately. Plenty of other, more friendly and inviting places to go to. Photo below was found on the wall behind the bar, which very accurately described our experience.

We went to the town of Oingt to visit and got there by 1:30pm. As one can imagine most restaurants were closed or closing. Chez Marguerite was opened and we stopped there. 1) the staff was extremely nice and friendly 2) the menu was quite limited to a few salads, tartars and a burger 3) cleanliness did not seem to be a priority. Overall the restaurant did the trick but it’s definitely not a place I’d aim to go to… more like a place to go to if there is no other alternative

Despite being told that locals don't recommend this place, it was the only place that had a table for us. While the food is acceptable (burger, pasta, fish), the service is a bit deceiveing. We ordered from the set menu but were charged per item (at an extra cost of 5 EUR). The waitresses claimed that we were pointing to the a la carte side of the menu instead of the set menu. They seem to have a bias against non French speaking people and/or tourists.

We didn't actually eat here because we left before ordering. When we came in, the receptionist was talking to a friend. We waited right next to them for about a minute before we were finally greeted. We had three adults and two children, so we were seated in a back room which had no view or ambiance. The whole point of going to this restaurant is the view from the front dining area. The menu is very limited and very pricey. Very meat/burger heavy. And she told us the kitchen was closing soon so order quickly - even though there is nothing on their hours to indicate that the kitchen takes a break. So, we left because as I was already disappointed about three times after the unprofessional "greeting", the table with no view, and the...

Stopped there for lunch on our way through France by car, beautiful village. They just had a bus stop for lunch with a bunch of obnoxious tourists, and were not willing to seat us Americans, however I pleaded with waiter that we were starving and he said “ you have such a nice smile” and gave us a table. Still memorable food after 4 years. I had the house smoked Salomon and my husband had the chef special. Highly recommend it, waiter was extremely nice and provided...
