Au Restaurant L’Hippocampe — Restaurant in Villeneuve-sur-Lot

This restaurant makes me wish I hadn't handed out 5 stars so easily over the years, or that I could award six stars. The chef has an incredible passion for fish; it was incredibly interesting to hear him talk about which fish he buys, from where, how he prepares it. And it shows in the quality of food - it was simply superb, and good value for money too. I could have listened to the chef talk about his food all evening!

The maitre d was wonderfully accommodating, and so nice. We tried to dine with a sleeping three year old and she was so patient and understanding.

willing to encourage a new restaurant in this region we went to l hippocampe which serves seafood and sushi. tried the seafood ... good fishsoup... and oysters were nice ...all good products .. the main dish was a bit light for my taste. the plate was covered by crudités but the "meaty" stuff was scarce but very good. ... owner and his wife were nice and helpful.. I think they should widen their offer.. there is a need for a fish restaurant around here...I didn't try the sushi which looks...

A perfect lunch experience in this restaurant. Great place to taste seafood dishes gathered from France! Warm and pleasant service from the staff, explaining the menu, and welcoming us amazingly.
