Haus Große Kettler — Restaurant in Bad Laer

This visit was with my spouse and we were given a very large twin room with lots of cupboard and storage spaces, plus a balcony.|The room was nice, but did felt stuffy and humid after a couple of days as the room has no air conditioning with the weather being rainy outside. We do missed not having any tea or coffee making facilities in our room. The large bed was in a timber frame and my wife regularly bumped her knees against the solid corners a couple times a day!!|The bathroom appeared newly renovated and was very clean and bright.|Carparking spaces in the infront of the hotel were small and a little tight, but they have a 2nd carpark on the lake side of the hotel.|Breakfast choices were somewhat limited on this visit compared to my memory of the previous stay, even the fruit bowl was from the canned variety. The fresh plums and apples appeared to be days old.|Dinner at the restaurant was very, very good, although service was a little slow as the restaurant is always busy around 6:30 to 8:00pm. The reason for choosing this hotel was to celebrate my husband's anniversary with his children (adults). We preferred to stay at a location where indoor activities were available: sauna and swimmingpool (in case of bad weather). Pool is ok and the sauna area is clean and well maintained.||The rooms are comfortable and clean, beds are great and there is enough space for your luggage. Breakfast is very good as well as the menu for diner. Good ambiance in the restaurant and friendly staff. We loved the food and the wine very much, so we decided to visit the restaurant both days!||We missed a good vibe in the bar in the afternoon: no staff to look after the guests, so to order an aperitif we had to search for somebody. In general I would suggest to make sure the bar is a more lively spot to go for a drink.||||The hotel is located in the small center of the village Bad Laer, next to a lovely park and the forest.
