Ristorante La Perla — Restaurant in Bad Nauheim

I was initially drawn to the restaurant by its glowing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of expectations.

At around 6 p.m., the restaurant was nearly empty. Given that I was dining alone, I assumed finding a suitable table would not be an issue. Instead, I was shown to a table in a back room, situated behind a wall. This meant that I would be staring at a blank wall, despite the rest of the restaurant being almost completely vacant.

When I politely requested a different table—none of which were marked as reserved—I was brusquely told, “Dieser Tisch oder auf Wiedersehen” (“This table or goodbye”). Faced with this discourteous response, I chose to dine elsewhere.

Just down the street, I discovered La Trattoria Ristorante. The staff there were exceptionally welcoming, and the food was excellent. I ordered a pizza and was also served complimentary bread, butter, and olives as a starter.

First time experience was really good, with food and service as well, but it put me off with later visits. I thought I will be a regular customer every time I visit Bad Nauheim but not anymore. To start with something positive: the food is really nice. The pasta could have had a bit more sauce for my taste.

The service on the other side is terrible. The ladies give you the feeling that they are doing you a favour. They also seemed to treat regulars differently. Impatient when taking the order, no offer of coffee or dessert. Grumpy when bringing the bill even after receiving a 10% tip (I don’t even know why I did that).
