We came to Dotori with super high expectations reading a lot of fancy texts on their site and reading reviews from people being over excited. In reality things are very far from that. The tables and the location is extemly small, the tables very narrow and unstable on the old floor. Location has no toillet.
The food was overly priced using very basic ingredients..Paying 35 euro per person you would at least expect some decent portions, but instead many veggies fancy explained by the waiter were brought. The chicken was nothing than a kfc thing mounted in a fancy plate and the seafood panjeon pancake was looking like made by a 5 years old beginner chef, with lots of oil and also low quality ingredients such as microscopic schrimps.
The wines were also quite low quality charged for the uppers pricing of a premium thing. All the people around us were shocked by the billed amount. E.g 100 ml small wine glass was charged 9 euro
The first course menu had no info on allergens.
Serving was also kind of raw as the waiters lacked empathy and real care to the guests, it felt more like a fake pretended caring.
Waiting time was very long and the portions wer not brought to us in the same time.
For sure not a place to go back and one of the lowest quality output for cost you can get in Berlin.

Read moreDotori is a really fun Anju Bar. The flavors are well-balanced, and while the doenjang-jjigae and mala sauce were slightly milder than expected, the food was still incredibly delicious. The banchan was great—I hadn’t had lotus root in a while, and the kimchi had a nice gingery kick that added a deeper flavor.
The pajeon was light and crispy, and most importantly, not as greasy as in other places in Berlin.
The Mala Tteokbokki were really enjoyable. I personally would have liked a bit more Sichuan pepper to get that signature numbing effect, but I understand why it might have been toned down.
If I had to rank the dishes, the Hotteok would, unfortunately, be at the bottom. The combination with ice cream was great, and the filling was flavorful, but the dough wasn’t as fluffy and light as I had hoped.
The drinks selection was also a highlight. The Magkeolli was great, and it’s rare to find Yakju on the menu in Berlin. Next time, I’ll definitely go for a bottle of Yakju!
Overall, the food, service, and drinks were fantastic. We had an amazing time, and we’ll...
Read moreThe food was truly excellent and prepared with great care. You could tell they have a clear concept they’re trying to implement. Unfortunately, this also created a very strict and rigid atmosphere that made us feel quite uncomfortable.
For example, we were immediately told that we had to pay a €30 penalty because one person in our group got sick and couldn’t attend. I completely understand that especially small restaurants need to have such policies for larger reservations — but I find it hard to accept when it’s just one out of six guests who can’t come. We were told that the ingredients had already been purchased for that number of guests and that we had to cover the cost.
When we asked whether we could just receive the sixth menu instead and pay €38 for food rather than €30 for a no-show penalty, the response was hesitant. Only after we asked again was that solution offered.
I believe you can have a lovely evening there — as long as you strictly follow all the rules and take the concept just as seriously as...
