Tutti Gusti — Restaurant in Berlin

Well to be fair, i have to make a little disclaimer heads on: my GF and I are foodies. So thats that. But. Since we had cards for the theater right around the corner and still wanted to meet an old friend of mine, we knew we had to compromise between practicality and comfort, so we weren’t looking for the usual „berlin fancy food experience“ but thought some grounded neat little Italien restaurant would suffice, and from the looks of it (here on google) we found the right place. But… This wasn’t even that. In hindsight: we should‘ve looked at the menu first, an Italien restaurant with Tzatziki on it‘s menu could’ve raised some red flags.

And ya, the food was.. kinda bad. I‘m sorry to say, but it was. Two of us had pasta, one was „carbonara“ with big chunks of cooked ham schredded around the plate, the other was described in the menu to be served with king prawns, and what i got were cheap shrimps.

But my girlfriend got the crownjewel with her gratinated aubergine in tomato sauce, which was so greasy that even though she didn’t even finish half of it, it gave her tummy aches.

As i said, we didn’t expect something special but i dunno why it had to be this bad.

Prices would’ve been ok, but not for that. And I am taking no satisfaction here, i hate leaving bad reviews, but guys you really have to reduce your menu and push your quality. Since i am a chef myself, my advise would be to look for some few things you can do really well and concentrate on that.

Staff was nice...

Waiters are kind, but don’t understand English. Even after showing each position in the menu, we didn’t get soup, and the second dish was not what we ordered. As they don’t have English menu, we didn’t realise we got the wrong dish (we thought it is what we should get). I ate it, and then the waiter brought my dish, that looked delicious. When I explained the situation with the help of another, German-speaking guest, the dish was taken away from me and waiter informed me that everything was ok. Apart from that, my wife got food 30 minutes after me....

First, my overall feeling is appalled. That an establishment like can exist in the standard of quality restaurants in Berlin is astounding. The server was apathetic at best, needed everything repeated twice, tossed the "Bierdeckel" on our table like we were in a bar, and the food? Frozen base pizza, Ingredients tossed on top. My "seasonal Pfifferlinge pork fillets (the mushrooms were rubbery, out of the freezer), and either the meat or that curdled sauce messed up my digestion big time. I was still feeling it 48...
