Vetro — Restaurant in Dortmund

The food was indeed amazing, but it seems that the cooks are the only ones truly working and doing their best, they are jumping over their own heads to please the guests, the service on the other hand is " interesting". It seems that they decided to do everything they can on ignoring their customers. We have ordered a T bone steak at the cost of close to 100€, when the meal was offered by our server, we were told that the steak will be cut up for us. When the steak came it was big and it was placed in front of us, the server put on more dinner size plates and left. We were left waiting, until one of the cooks from the kitchen area asked us if the steak was good and we answered that we were still waiting for it to be cut up. After hearing that the cook seemed visibly upset and even took off the apron. He spoke with the man serving us, only then we got our meal prepared for eating, but sadly our steak was already cold and needed to be reheated and it seems that, that have upset the cook even more. After our reheated steak, that was still very delicious was finished, we wanted to refill our drinks but we were ignored by the working staff, the only one who asked if we would like something to order was a woman who, by the outfit did not look like a staff member. We finally got our drinks and a dessert which was perfect and we later found out that the cook told the staff, that our desserts will be free for inconvenience regarding the steak. After that we asked for our check for which we have also waited for more than usual.

To summarise all that, the food was amazing, and I am very pleased with the cooks.

Regarding service, it felt like we were costplayng ghosts and we're meant to be ignored. I am going to note that the restaurant was not busy or overcrowded noticing how many tables there were and how many customers were served.

I would personally not dine there again, unless you don't mind slow service and being ignored, but would like top notch food. If you only want amazing food then it's the place for you.

Das die Preise recht gesalzen sind, konnte ich schon vorab der Speisekarte auf der Webseite entnehmen, was aber grundsätzlich kein Problem ist. Ich zahle gerne gutes Geld für gutes Essen. Die Realität hat mich dann aber doch sehr enttäuscht. Als erstes fiel mir unangenehm auf, dass man uns auf der Terrasse lediglich eine Speisekarte vorlegte. Eine Getränkekarte erhielten wir nicht. Vorsichtshalber und in völliger Unkenntnis der Preise bestellte ich also nur ein Bier. Zurecht, wie ich später feststellte, denn mehr als 5 Euro für ein Hövels ist dann schon mehr als genug. Die Vorspeise (Lachstartar) war zwar nicht schlecht, aber sicher nichts besonderes. Das hätte jeder Hobbykoch mindestens genau so gut hinbekommen. Dann die Hauptspeise..... Tagliatelle mit Rinderfiletspitzen und Trüffel, im Parmesanlaib am Tisch zubereitet für happige 25 Euro. Als erstes hat man uns nicht darüber informiert, dass das Essen aufgrund von Corona nicht am Tisch zubereitet wird, sondern kam dann ohne Vorwarnung mit dem fertig angrichteten Teller an. Ich war mir erst nicht sicher, ob es sich vielleicht um das bestellte Gericht, aber als Vorspeise handelte, fand aber keine entsprechenden Infos auf der Karte. DAS sollte also das Hauptgericht für 25 Euro sein????? 2 Handvoll Nudeln, ganze 4 Stücke Fleisch und 4 hauchdünne und kaum auffindbare Scheiben Trüffel. Aber damit nicht genug, das Fleich war wider erwarten nicht butterzart und zerging auch nicht auf der Zunge, sondern die "Filetspitzen" waren leicht zäh. Der Gesamtgeschmack war in Ordnung, aber leider bin ich nicht satt geworden. Glücklicherweise erhielt ich von meiner Freundin noch den Rest ihrer durchaus schmackhaften Pizza, sodass ich das Lokal nicht völlig hungrig verlassen musste. Der "Chefkellner" glänzte mit Arroganz und behandelte uns zwar freundlich aber von oben herab. Vielleicht waren wir nicht reich und schön genug. Alles in Allem kann ich den Hype um dieses Lokal nicht nachvollziehen und schon mal gar nicht zu diesen Preisen. Muss ich nicht...

Slow service. We entered the restaurant at 18.30. It was quite empty inside although the rear terrace was full. Ordered fish soup which came after a reasonable wait, and two pizzas (this is an Italian restaurant after all). The tables next to us an either side filled up and ordered, and were served two courses while we still waited 2 hours for 2 pizzas, which when they eventually arrived were soggy in the middle. One was finished with a cranberry sauce straight from the fridge which did nothing to enhance the experience and chilled the pizza quickly.
