Delicious fish rolls. + scenic view, + nice interior and exterior, - staff could be friendlier
Gosch is a famous fish bistro chain in Germany and originated on the island of Sylt. By today the company has several branches throughout the country including a larger restaurant in St. Peter. The branch offers a variety of fish rolls (typical for Northern Germany), typical seafood, fish dishes, and other snacks.
The St. Peter branch consists of an outside patio surrounding the shack with high tables and chairs, lounge seating and typical Northern German beach cabanas (two-seaters called ‘Strandkorb’) from where you can watch the sunset. Inside you have the choice between private tables or mixed seating areas. All food and drinks have to be self ordered and you have to pick them up. Occasionally there are parties taking place in the restaurant that are open to public.
I personally prefer the fish rolls and the Matjes (young salty hering) that are always tender and almost melt in your mouth… Depending on the cooks main dishes can be greasy and too heavy, but their specialty are the Garlic Shrimps, raw seafood, and as said the fish rolls.
The only negative thing about this Gosch branch is that some bartenders and cooks are unfriendly. I usually stop by the branch when I am around and always was running into some grumpy people.

One child out of 5 ordered the children’s noodles and tomato sauce and this meal does not include gummy bears, a toy and Capri-sun like the other kids meals (fish). The last half of the meal spent dealing with an unhappy child and our group begging for an extra toy. Then in the end a very kind server brought out extra toys. I am not a big fan of plastic toys with meals but would suggest include the extras with all kids meals to...
Read moreAs the other Gosch's you cannot do something wrong when you go there. Staff friendly. Prices are also OK. No service, you have to order your drinks and food at the bar and food desk and bring it to your table on your own. It opens at 11 AM, so no breakfast but you can get other food. I had a battered fish in a bun, it was OK, but the fish was not hand made. It came pre-fried from the freezer. When you go for dinner you might know that the dishes are big, so when you are not so hungry you might consider to share your dish with your company. For sure many dishes with seafood and my fish platter was very good,...
