Seoulpocha — Restaurant in Frankfurt

Update Summer 2023 Chicken: is not prepared freshly. You get prefried warmed up chicken. Almost cold. Also the spicy sauce used to be different.

K-BBQ: Had to ask several times for salad leaves. Also Banchan only one serving for two people. Quite stingy.

Tako-Yaki: Okay. 6 Balls for 10 €. Quite pricey. Same goes for the Korean Pancakes for about 20,-

I have been the biggest fan and multplicator of this place, but every year the lost a star and now I can only give 2 stars. It is just not a good feeling to spend 100,-€ for two people and get the feeling that the restaurant is stingy and not making things as fresh as they used to.

Have been a fan of this place since 2017. Back then the chicken was delicious. Now its is merely ok. Back then you had to wait because it was steaming hot and the sauce was still freshly ouzing around. Now the chicken seems to be pre-fried and then re-heated with a measly itty bit of sauce. What a shame. The soups are all still good and the ribs with cheese are tender. On weekends a lot of people drink soju. The focus of pocha seems to have shifted away from food. It used to be a good place to bring friends and clients, but since corona the experience has always slightly changed and it is a bit instable. Let's hope here won't happen what happened to Koryano, which conmpletly...

Das südkoreanische Restaurant Seoulpocha hat sich seit Dezember 2015 in Frankfurt-Hausen (Stadtteil mit dem höchsten Anteil an asiatischer Bevölkerung) etabliert. Die Kommunikation in deutscher Sprache ist nicht immer einfach; gut, dass die Speisekarte bebildert ist.

Die kleine Räumlichkeit wurde sehr großzügig gestaltet. Die Tische sind so gestellt, dass man sich in Ruhe unterhalten kann ohne die Gäste nebenan mit persönlichen Themen zu belästigen. Allerdings sind die meisten Stühlchen eher der Physiognomie des asiatischen Publikums angepasst; für breitere/größere Gestalten empfehlen sich Tische mit runden lehnenlosen Lederhöckerchen.

Wir saßen gestern an einem Vierertisch, so dass wir uns ausbreiten konnten. Als "Gruß aus der Küche" erhielten wir – wie gewohnt - ein Schälchen mit dreierlei Gemüse (u.a. den leckeren Weißkohl-Kimchi).

Japanische und koreanische Biere in einer kleinen Flasche, dazu ein kleines „Kindergläschen“, witzig, aber wohlschmeckend.

Bei den Weinen kann man sich nur für „Weißwein“ oder „Rotwein“ zu 3 € für 0,2 l entscheiden. Auf Nachfrage, um welche Art Weißwein es sich denn handele, sagte die freundliche, gut deutsch sprechende Dame „Chardonnay“. Umso erfreulicher, dass 3 Sorten japanischer Reiswein/Sake angeboten wird (0,1 l zu 5,00 €). Das Geschirr dazu empfand ist als außerordentlich schön!

Nachdem wir uns seit ca. 18 Jahren an den Geschmack der koreanischen Küche behutsam herangetastet haben, mögen wir nach etlichen Besuchen hier und bei anderen Koreanern in der Umgebung fast alles auf der Karte. Gestern hatten wir Nr. 15 (gegrilltes scharfes Hähnchen Reis und Weißkrautsalat für 15 €) und Nr. 36 (Gegrillter Schweinebauch mit Zwiebeln und Chilisoße, Reis und Eisbergsalatblätter für 15 €).

Erneut hatten wir beim Verlassen des Hauses keinerlei Völlegefühl, sondern den Eindruck eines wohlschmeckenden ganzheitlich-gesunden Mahls, auf das keine weiteren Gelüste am Ende des Tages...

Love love love this place. Went with my boyfriend and we shared the fried chicken, seafood pancake (해물파전), spicy seafood noodle soup (짬뽕) and cheese 떡볶이 (rice cake in spicy sauce). This was the most authentic Korean food I've had in Germany and the interior/atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Seoul. Also, the owner was very kind.

It's a great place to go with your friends, drink soju and maekju and share delicious food. The only bad thing about it is, that it's a bit in the outskirts of Frankfurt (I'm spoiled cause I live in the city centre). But it's well...
