Doro is a friendly welcoming host, I've been going there for 18 years since I first arrived in Gerolstein, and before, when my wife and I were house hunting. When my wife died this year Doro opened early so that I could have a celebration day of her life with friends and family. I have been to pubs all over Germany and 'Doro's' is one of the best, if not THE best pub in the country. I disagree with a previous review who says it's not for single ladies, I have seen many in there and they are always welcome.

No food served but be a true German and come for a beer. The entry is a real hole in the wall (literally) and the landlady is very friendly, polite and speaks English. Don't be British and demand a pint as you'll be surprised how good beer tastes in a smaller glass especially the kolsch that is on offer. You can tell that the locals love the place and the boss in charge knows her stuff in serving fresh draughts. €2 per glass and a beautiful outdoor seating area. Definitely a lovely stop off before dinner.

Es war ein fantsscher Abend. Alt und urig. Kneipenathmosphäre, wie man sie nur noch selten findet. Die nette Wirtin ist der Knaller. Freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Wir haben viel gelacht und es ist einfach mit den Leuten ins Gespräch zu kommen. Da es eine reine Kneipe ist gibt es kein Essen. Aber direkt gegenüber gibt es eine Pizzeria und man darf...
