Recommended - great, but a bit inconsistent.
We've been here twice now - after having a "wow"-experience the first time we wanted to go again recentlyy. Both times we brought our kids and it was never any issue (from the restaurant's side) whatsoever. They even have a play corner for the smaller kids!
The first time, for food was really great, easily worth 5 stars. We liked the starter (brûléed chèvre with apricots) so much that we had it a second time, and the second time around I had what another in our company had the first time. Unfortunately, the second time both dishes were quite a bit less impressive. The cheese was still a bit cold inside, ans so less flavorful and the texture was not as nice, and my fish dish (zander (pike-perch) with lemon-butter-capers sauce) was really lacking in the sauce department. It was almost as if they'd forgotten the lemon and butter. The dishes were still quite good the second time, but the value for money was not really there and it was kind of a let-down as we had high expectations. I do suspect that it was because of overload on the kitchen - the place was nearly full when we came in spite of us being there when they opened.
The staff was quite nice both times. Nothing remarkable in either direction I'd say, it depended a bit on who was serving. They did their job quite well. The second time I suspect that they were a bit stressed because of the amount of guests.
The venue is also excellent, a nice, old building with a cozy outdoor area hidden away from the road. However, it really got very loud when we sat inside the second time around, to the point where it was hard to speak to each other. I think some sound treatment is in order, and reducing the number of seats a little would help reduce the noise and ease the burden on the staff a bit.
All in all I would recommend going here, even when the visit was less nice the food was still good compared to many other places, and when the food is on point it is...
Read moreGreat find. Was staying at the Mercure Hotel, barely 15 minutes away on foot. Not many food choices around the hotel as it is in a business- and residential area, but this ons is a must go. I didn't have a booking and was on my own, but they gave me a table for an hour. So make sure you book! The menu isn't available online, as it's a massive chalk board above the kitchen. Dishes change all the time, but there is a nice selection of traditional italian starters such as carpaccio and burrata for example. Some nice pastas, such as salmon, truffle or chanterelles. Several fish- and meat dishes as well, such as iberico pork or sole. A separate dessert board is available and of course features Tiramisu and others. The wines are also changing and another board shows them. The Trebbiano...
Read moreGreat food, I would say worth the slightly high prices. I got the ham and parmesan pizza. Very nice building and atmosphere. Not the most international friendly place as it was hard to find a waiter that spoke English and the service was a bit slow. We went on a Monday evening and even then it was packed, which must say something about the place! Overall, a greatm dining experience, and if I lived nearby, it would be...
