This looked like an ideal stopover in the forest on our way back to home in Brussels. The hotel is close to the top of a hill up a steep road. Easy access, well laid out grounds, ample parking space, modern chalet style building with a very nice view. There's good facilities in the grounds for children to play and even a large chess set. We had a nice aperitif on the terrace before moving inside for dinner. We could have dined in the covered terrace area but once the sun is gone, the air becomes quite chilly. The meal was simple and good. Our waitress Sylvia was great fun and made the evening fun. We then wandered up to our room. The room was simple but, as expected, with a good bed with clean crisp sheets. The bathroom was a bit spartan: no little extras. Just bottled soap and a simple shower. Somewhat surprising for a room costing 150 euros, breakfast included. The night brought an unpleasant surprise : the pleasant evening calm was shattered by loud music with heavy drum beats coming from the hotel just up the hill. The windows of our room (which did not close well) offered little protection. This went on all night and as you can imagine made sleeping difficult even with earplugs. When we commented on this next morning at checkout we were told that this was a 4 day and night party which takes place every year at Whitsun. So though the place is no doubt pleasant at other times, avoid it at Whitsun if you are not a raver. And thumbs down to the hotel and booking.com for not...

Lovely traditional Black Forest hotel. Well placed and with plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly particularly the young lady serving our group during the evening. Good food and nothing was too much trouble. English spoken by all. Would be a great base for a family with games within the grounds. A small lake in the delightful grounds made it possible to swim although in June the water was very cold. I would have given this hotel five stars were it not for the fact that our room as at the back with virtually no view and balcony but just an awkward flat roof to step on to. Others in our group were much more fortunate with second floor rooms with balconies overlooking the lake and valley. Yes I would definitely go again but would make a point of asking for a room with a view over the lake.

This place serves authentic and tasty German food. This place was a stop over for us. A bit to pricey I must say but the portions and the quality of the food made it worthwhile. The soup bowl was immensly larger than expected and the veggie uberbacken platter was heavy as well. Tip - dress well when u go there to eat!! ;)

Called in for dinner at the last minute, were very pleasantly surprised. Large, varied menu, food was superb, service typically German in hospitality and pleasant, surroundings sublime and ambience was on point for us. Didn't stay in this hotel but will certainly consider doing so next time. Fantastic meal and evening.
