This place is great for a romantic date night. This is not your ordinary Indian take-away joint. The decor is nicely decorated with a large mural and warm lighting. The wait staff are smartly dressed who speak English and German. The music was playing just loud enough to create a soft atmosphere where we could still hear each other speak with quiet voices.
The modern Indian menu had a lot of creative and fun dishes. It wad hard to decide which ones to try as our firsts. The pani puri was my favorite of the night. Crispy exterior filled with lightly spiced, slightly sweet yogurt, topped with colorful red beet ribbons. Don't try to take a bite. Just pop the entire thing in your mouth so that the ball can burst to create a delicious experience. The bottom provided more crispy texture from the pomegranates and spiced puffed rice. Highly recommend.
The sea bass Haveli Special had small filet of sea bass on top of a generous helping of a slightly sweet coconutty and lightly spiced sauce. The fish was boneless had a nice crispy skin. There were also a few pieces of potato and fennel to accompany the fish in the sauce.
There were plenty of unique vegetarian options but decided on trying the buffala dal this time around. The dish again was flavorful and more on the savory side. The slightly melted buffala cheese provided a fun and tasty texture to the dal. Both mains included yellow rice.
We shared a single order of plain naan. My partner really enjoyed the naan topped with the black sesame seeds, but I just thought they were OK. It was good, but not the best. I'm more of a fan of the naan style made at Royal Aroma or Raj Mahal in downtown Kaiserslautern. They had other breads as well like paratha and papadam.
For the entire dining experience of 1 appetizer to share, 2 mains, naan, and 2 drinks it cost us 60euro. Absolutely worth it.
For my fellow American folks, there's plenty of free parking in the lot or street. If you pay by credit card, they will provide you a QR code to download the receipt to easily upload to Remonon.
We will definitely come again to try more of their...
Read moreBeautiful atmosphere, outstanding service, and flavorful food! We made a reservation for 5 people on a Sunday night at 5:30. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and modern. The seating is comfortable and we felt like we had plenty of room even when the other tables started filling up. The server took our drink orders and gave us recommendations. We ordered the kebab appetizer to share. Everything on the platter was delicious and full of flavor. We also ordered each type of soup, shrimp, crab and mushroom. Each one was delicious and filling. The shrimp were huge! The server also recommended a few different types of naan to try. The garlic naan, which is what I would usually order, was the best I’ve had. And, the mint naan he recommended was delicious and complimented the spiciness of the main dish. The main courses were brought out in a timely manner and each was served with rice. The flavors were incredible and better than any Indian food I’ve eaten. The server checked on us many times, making sure we were happy with our meals and asking if we’d like more to drink. At the end of the meal we were brought out a flavorful sweet citrus shot on the house. I will definitely go back to this restaurant again and want to try the brunch they offer on Saturdays...
