El Tesoro in Karlsruhe is a charming spot offering authentic Mexican cuisine along with a rotating selection of Peruvian, Colombian, and Venezuelan dishes with different menu options each week.
The atmosphere is very compact within a small space, but also colorful and relaxed, perfect for a casual meal or a lively night out if you don’t mind it a bit loud.
The food is authentic, fresh and flavorful, with standout dishes like their tacos, homemade guacamole, and weekly Latin American specials that bring something new to try each visit.
Portions are generous, and the margaritas are well-made. The staff is generally friendly and welcoming, but know it can get very busy and you may need to be patient to get your food or drinks.
Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, as the restaurant tends to fill up quickly.
Parking can be a bit challenging nearby, so it’s a good idea to allow extra time or use public transportation.
If you’re looking to explore authentic flavors from across Latin America in Karlsruhe, El Tesoro is definitely worth a visit.
Vegetarian options often available.
Handicap access is possible but note the restrooms...
Read moreI cannot recommend this place enough! We had the BEST Latin American food EVER! Everything was prepared fresh and served piping hot. The people running the place are so lively, passionate and are always ready to help you out! We had the special Friday menu - Menü de Norte a sur, and we ordered all the appetisers because making a choice was very difficult for us! Out of these our recommendations are the Taco (their taco filling is a class apart from any other place we have bene to!) and the Arepas (SO FREAKING SOFT and filled with chorizo or cheese! It's a journey). And everything was served with my personal favourite Pico de Gallo made by Sandra and it was soooooo good! We also ordered some cocktails (Mojito and the Smog Tropical) and they slapped so hard, and we also tried their beer from the Dominican Republic, so good!
We will 100% go back - to both try their food again, this time maybe from their normal menu and also to shop - they have a tiny but well stocked market attached to the restaurant! I finally found the Tajin powder I was looking for! Cannot...
Einfach einzigartig in Karlsruhe. Einfach...
