Bastion Marie — Restaurant in Kronach

The staff was absolutely top notch. They did their best to help us order food and explain the best they could. They brought my daughter a coloring book (because she was tired and not happy), they gave her a cookie. They bought my kids popsicles. The let us know the hamburger was big and offered to cut it so my boys could split it. It was huge and delicious.

They were very pleasant. I don’t think I’ve ever had better service! We had 4 tired and hungry kids, and went away with happy kids.

The food was authentic and great. They have goose, pork, beef, Wiener schnitzel (breaded chicken), deer and others. I didn’t get pictures, but we plan on going back!

The location is amazing! It has a great view and it’s right next to a castle! It’s up on a hill an has an amazing view.

It’s a small restaurant and they said on weekends they fill up so go early or make reservations if they have them. We were lucky and came in the middle of the week.

Very disappointing experience. We ended up leaving because our drink order was not served even after a long wait. I also noticed guests at other tables leaving, likely for the same reason — extremely slow or missing service. (to clarify, the Waiters were very quick, it was just the kitchen staff which was extremely, painfully slow)

We had ordered a cold coffee, which is a fairly simple and quick item to prepare. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked about our order. The waitress assured us, “I checked, it’s coming very, very soon.” Another 10 minutes passed, and she returned to tell us, “Sorry, we forgot your order. If you're willing to wait, we can start preparing it now.”

Wir waren am 12.06.21 im "Biergarten" der Bastion Marie zum essen um mit dem "Schlemmerblock" dieses Restaurant zu testen. Nach einer Anreise von ca. 50km freuten wir uns endlich wieder etwas Auswärts zu speisen. Bei der Bestellung wurde uns mitgeteilt das der Schlemmerblock (2 Gerichte zum Preis von einem) zur Zeit nicht angenommen werden kann da der Umsatz jetzt benötigt wird. Wir waren zuerst enttäuscht aber konnten auch die Situation durchaus verstehen. Im nachhinein habe ich allerdings erfahren, dass jedes Restaurant welches sich im Schlemmerblock befindet, sich im Vorjahr für die Aufnahme beworben/registriert hat und da gab es schon die Pandemie! Es soll ja eigentlich als Werbung für die Restaurants dienen und wenn man sich dafür beworben hat, darf man seinen Gästen das Angebot nicht verweigern welche auch noch bis zu 40 Euro für diesen Schlemmerblock bezahlen müssen.

Das Essen (wir hatten Burger) für 16,50 Euro je Gericht war geschmacklich sehr gut, die Portionsgröße ausreichend, lediglich hätten die Patties etwas länger in der Pfanne bleiben können.
