We had an excellent stay here for one night while walking the Rheinsteig.||||I'll start off with my only complaint - it's close to the railroad tracks, so it can be a bit noisy when the biggest freight trains are passing by. Apparently the locals don't like it much either - there are protest signs stating "Bahn ist Wahnsinn" in several of these little towns along the Rhine. We usually sleep like rocks, so it didn't bother us that much.||||On to the positive aspects: this place has a very nice beer garden right outside, where a good mix of locals and tourists hang out. After the over-touristy Rüdesheim, this was fantastic. In the middle of summer, this seemed pretty much seemed to be the only place open in town. They also serve solid and inexpensive food in their small and cosy restaurant, and of course you can also buy the weingut's own wines.||||We had nice views over the Rhine from our room, and you can even go for a swim down the road if you're not too picky. The place may look a bit dull on their website, but the room was quite large and seemed recently refurbished, including the bathroom. ||||Solid breakfast, which can be enjoyed on the backside patio if the weather's nice. And the owners were very friendly, too. For 65 euros per night, we found this to be a great choice and above our expectations. While walking the Rheinsteig, we liked staying in some of the smaller towns better than the slightly larger ones. Try this place if you're...

Read more|We arrived in Lorch after 9 p.m. and after urgent showers, were desperate to eat. After a long wander around the dark, quiet town, we finally spotted Rößler at the end of a long street, tucked against the train viaduct, with outdoor seating sweetly done in a modest way.||Frau Röẞler was walking the dog as the restaurant wound down for the night, but saw our pathetic desperation and asked if we wanted some food, and then proceeded to place an order for us in the kitchen based on what she thought they could still do around their cleanup.||We ended up with absolutely delicious, well presented food, served with real heart by her staff despite us being the last in for the night ||Delicious cream of vegetable soup with ham (Speck). Lovely panküchen, one olive, and one ham. One ice cream sundae, and one Erdbeer sundae. ||And four glasses of wonderful wine from their vineyard.||I would return here for the food, or the wine, or the neighborhood ambience alone, and I would absolutely return for the people.||Lovely...
