Date of visit: June 24, 2023 around 2 pm during a visit to Eltz Castle. Once we arrived at Castle Eltz, we were very thirsty and hungry, because we had walked about 5 km from the station of Müden (Mosel) and the temperature was around 28 degrees. So decided to have a drink in the restaurant/bar area of ​​the castle itself. When we saw the prices, we had to swallow, a bit extortionate for what you get. See attached pictures. Still decided to have a drink, because it is very thirsty, please note that there is no drinkable tap water in the castle itself. The view itself is quite nice, and you really feel like a king in your own castle. Hence the choice to give 4 stars, for the atmosphere alone. + Remark: almost have to fight to sit somewhere, since there are a lot of people and not many tables/sitting places.

The restaurant is right infront of the main entrance to the Castle. They have a decent menu with some good German food (vegeterians options as well) and drinks. It is good to sit out with some food and enjoy the view of the castle. We went there around 4pm and the food was almost over, so don't go late in the evening. They only have outdoor sitting, so avoid going there on a rainy day.

Für eine Pause nach viel gelaufenen Metern bietet sich die Unterschänke gut an. An gut besuchten Tagen steht man nur ewig an, leider dauert es auch lange bis man man Essen auf dem Tablett hat und die Bezahlung durchgelaufen ist. Da die Sitzplätze gering sind, muß man sich einfach mal durchfragen ob irgendwo was frei ist. Dies hat aber den Vorteil, man kommt mal mit anderen ins Gespräch, das hat also auch Vorteile. Das Essen war lecker, aber meiner Meinung nach zu teuer.

Bei unserem Besuch auf Burg Eltz kam naturgemäß auch irgendwann Hunger auf und so begaben wir uns zur Burgschänke. Hier das einzig "negative" gleich vorweg: Die Warteschlange war lang und es bewegte sich nur schleppend, wofür die Betreiber aber nix können. Wenn viele Besucher da sind, sind nun mal viele Besucher da. Ansonsten waren wir rundum zufrieden. Der Kuchen ist einsame Spitze und auf der Karte gibt es sogar was vegetarisches (bzw. ich glaube es war sogar vegan, da bin ich aber nicht mehr 100% sicher) und auch das war sehr sehr lecker. Uns hat man sehr freundlich bedient (scheint nicht bei allen Rezensienten der Fall gewesen zu sein, wie man liest). Ein Tisch war problemlos gefunden und die Atmosphäre dort war sehr schön.
