Unterschänke — Restaurant in Maifeld

Date of visit: June 24, 2023 around 2 pm during a visit to Eltz Castle.

Once we arrived at Castle Eltz, we were very thirsty and hungry, because we had walked about 5 km from the station of Müden (Mosel) and the temperature was around 28 degrees. So decided to have a drink in the restaurant/bar area of ​​the castle itself.

When we saw the prices, we had to swallow, a bit extortionate for what you get. See attached pictures. Still decided to have a drink, because it is very thirsty, please note that there is no drinkable tap water in the castle itself.

The view itself is quite nice, and you really feel like a king in your own castle. Hence the choice to give 4 stars, for the atmosphere alone.

Remark: almost have to fight to sit somewhere, since there are a lot of people and not many...

The restaurant is right infront of the main entrance to the Castle. They have a decent menu with some good German food (vegeterians options as well) and drinks. It is good to sit out with some food and enjoy the view of the castle. We went there around 4pm and the food was almost over, so don't go late in the evening. They only have outdoor sitting, so avoid going there on...
