Who would have thought that a restaurant with a name like “old donkey” would serve such a fine cuisine!? We definitely didn’t! 😅 So when we sat down, ready for a PROPER meal after a whole day of exploring, we were a bit surprised by the multiple course menu. But as we were too hungry to turn around now, we went for it. 😁 The pumpkin soup and the two types of deer were fantastic but the bean croquettes and the cauliflower biscuits did not quite hit our favorites list tonight. “Alter Esel” is a lovely location and the staff was amazing bit it was not quite what we needed after an exhausting day like today. We take the blame for that! 😁 For your awareness: If you worked up a sweat the whole day and are ready to dig in to regain your energy this is not the ideal spot… BUT if you want to try dishes with a little twist, prepared with love for a “lighter” dinner than this is the spot for you....
