Gasthof Gries — Restaurant in Mittenwald

We randomly stopped by at mittenwald after a road trip to find some food and found this restaurant who has Kaiserschmarrn on the menu. We decided to give a try since the reviews of this resto were pretty good. Turns out we didn’t disappoint at all 🥹🫶🏻. The pancake was sooooo delicious, even my bestfriend’s husband who is German, also said that this one was pretty legit. The only thing that perhaps needs an improvement was about the service. There were two staffs who served us last time, the young guy was super friendly and helpful, however the lady was a bit rude to us when she brought the food to our table ☹️. Nevertheless, the atmosphere was super lovely in this restaurant, both sitting indoor and outdoor, and we still enjoy our time eating in here. Coming into the Restaurant, we were hit by a weird smell, close to that of a toilet. It wasnt strong but it was noticable. We were seated quickly even without a Reservation. The food was okay. The Kitchen messed up an order, which they corrected later. The sauce on my pork knuckle was way too salty. The deer was quite good. While eating there were three to four flies permanently flying around us which was incredibly annoying. The Service was fast and always friendly. While I didnt get his name the server with black hair and beard handled our orders. He was nice and solved the issues with the kitchen quickly. He did a good job.

Good food,great place to rest and take a break,stunning view.👍 Even if there are lot of people around it’s quiet and very relaxing to sit and enjoy your beer. The waitress was attentive and kind. We had just the main dishes with salads and non alcoholic beer from the tap. I had pork in demi glaze with stewed red cabbage and a potato dumpling,and my husband had a pork knuckle which he described as the best he had on our trip.
