Restaurant Apostl Alm — Restaurant in Oberstaufen

The place seems to be in high demand. Might be related to the high rating on Google Maps. For most of our stay there was a queue of people waiting for a table to free up. Numerous with reservations. We were in luck and able to have our dinner even slightly before our reserved slot. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. Especially considering the turnover with serving and cleaning tables. The food came rather quickly. Unfortunately, the quality didn't meet the expectations which the restaurant's high rating had created. The boring salad for 7€ is overpriced for what it was and we're still wondering why it came with a slice of orange. The goulash soup was OK. No complaints about the bread it came with. While the deer goulash was tender, the taste of the meat and the sauce was disappointing. Further, the side dish, croquettes, were fried for too long and got too dark and dry. The rösti, we ordered as a side dish, were very thin and therefore also ended up being too dry. At around 20h30 the dance bar below the restaurant seems to start. At least this was the time when the annoying vibrations started making sitting there a bit uncomfortable. Cudos to the staff. But how that rating was achieved is a mystery to me. There are so many excellent restaurants in Oberstaufen and the surrounding area, that you shouldn't waste your time...

We had a family meal with 4 adults, a toddler and a baby. The atmosphere is cosy and quite loud, which is great for a toddler because you don't have to worry about him making noise. Plus there were quite a few dogs barking. The food was nice, classic german dishes. I enjoyed the käsespätzle which came with a small salad. The rest of our group said the meals were nice, not outstanding but fair...

Essen war sehr gut, gab nichts zu beanstanden! Zum Service können wir folgendes sagen: Anfangs wurden wir von einer Servicekraft ignoriert, mussten uns deutlich bemerkbar machen, bis uns ein Tisch angeboten wurde. Wir waren zu 5, uns wurde ein Tisch für 4 zugewiesen, obwohl noch andere Tische frei waren. Es wurde auch kein 5 Gedeck gereicht, dieses mussten wir uns eigenständig besorgen. Bei der Aufnahme der Bestellung ging die Servicekraft mitten drin einfach weg und brachte anderen Tischen das Essen. Daraufhin haben wir uns bei der Geschäftsführung beschwert, da wir sowas noch nie erlebt hatten, vor allem nicht mit dem Kommentar, welcher uns nach der Beschwerde zu Ohren gekommen ist ("war das jetzt so schlimm, dass ich die Bestellung unterbrochen habe und anderen Gäste ihr Essen brachte?!") Die Geschäftsführerin hat sehr freundlich reagiert und hat sich prombt entschuldigt. Es gab dann noch einen Aperitif und am Ende einen Schnaps aufs Haus. Da der restliche Abend ohne weitere Zwischenfälle abgelaufen ist, sind wir grundsätzlich sehr zufrieden und würde auch gerne wieder kommen, wenn auch nicht mit der ersten Servicekraft.
