My wife and I was staying here for 3 nights while we were exploring a bit of the 3 countries that meet here (Dreiländereck - tripoint): Germany's Saarland, France's Grand Est (includes Lorraine which was our aim for a visit into France) and Luxembourg's Schengen. ||We arrived on 31. Mai which we did not know was a public holiday in Saarland: Corpus Christi. So no one at work in the hotel or restaurant this day but the entrance was open to the reception desk where we found an explanation and message, a key to our room and a suggestion for where we could have our evening dinner, in case we did not have our own solution for that. It was done in a way that we felt welcoming.||There were parking places for hotel guests as well as for restaurant visitors. There is no elevator in the hotel, our room was one floor up but we managed that with our heavy suitcase and bags, up the stairs. ||The hotel was nice and clean, however when we walked around in our room with only socks on, we realized the room's floor was a little dusty. Our room was fairly big, the bathroom also, and the beds were very comfortable. The next days we had all our meals in the hotel's restaurant and we learned the staff of the hotel and restaurant to be very serviceminded and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed their evening dinner food, whether it was meat or fish, very much. This hotel has an excellent kitchen. They also have a very good choice of local wines. And their local Saarland beer was a nice thirst shutter in the heat. ||The only thing we missed was a nice outdoor area. Still we enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much and recommend it to anyone planning a...

Read moreWe had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Hammes. We had a 2 night stay enroute to the UK after a holiday in Austria. We informed the hotel that we may arrive late. They were prepared and access to the room was organized for us... we needn't have worried! The generously sized room & bathroom were clean, comfortable and quiet. The restaurant was closed on Wednesday and Thursday but the hotel provided tips on local eateries. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the Mosel and Saarland area, as well as Luxembourg. We decided to spend a day exploring the historic town of Saarburg. It was stunning! Breakfast was substantial and including a variety of meats, cheeses, bread, yoghurts, jams etc.
