Corner Steakhouse Zur Ziegelhütte — Restaurant in Raunheim

We travel all the way from Hungary twice a year just to dine at Corner Steakhouse in Raunheim — and it’s worth every kilometer. Quite simply, this is the best steakhouse in Europe, and we’ve tried many.

From the moment we sit down on the cozy terrace, we know we’re in for something special. The highlight is their hot stone steak, served sizzling and raw so you can grill it to your perfect doneness right at the table. The meat is always of exceptional quality — tender, juicy, and full of flavor — and the spice crust adds a beautiful touch.

The salads are fresh and colorful, and the homemade sauces are out of this world. Pair that with a tall glass of cold wheat beer, and you're in food heaven. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and the staff are always welcoming and attentive.

If you're serious about steak, this place should be on your culinary bucket list. We already can’t wait for...

Nostalgie pur! Nach 30 Jahren hatte ich nochmal ein Steak auf einem heißen LavaStein - eine nostalgische Erfahrung, die gemischte Eindrücke hinterließ.

Essen Die Karte war ein einziges Sammelsurium. Nostalgisch mit Positionen wie Schnecken, Jäger-Schnitzel und Kaiserschmarren. Ich hatte ein Filet, auf Empfehlung meines Schwagers. Das Rinderfilet war qualitativ recht gut, zart und geschmackvoll. Das Braten auf dem heißen Stein ist schon ein besonderes Erlebnis, bei dem man sein Fleisch genau nach eigenem Geschmack zubereiten kann. Wer es tot braten möchte, ok, keiner lacht! Die 2 Saucen (Knoblauch und eine Art Cocktail) und auch die Kräuterbutter waren ganz in Ordnung, allerdings nichts Dolles und auch etwas wenig. Es fehlte etwas Raffinesse und auch ein Stück frisches Brot als Beilage hätte das Ganze abgerundet. Meine Wedges kamen aus der Tiefkühlung, wurden aber in einer großzügigen Portion serviert. Für die anderen gab es übrigens Bratkartoffel.

Ambiente & Einrichtung Der Stil des Restaurants erinnert eher an eine klassische Dorfkneipe, was einigen gefallen mag, aber insgesamt wenig Charme versprüht. Die Tischdekoration war erschreckend lieblos; und die auf den Tisch geklebten Bilder der Desserts wirken billig und überflüssig. Der Eingang zum Lokal war leider nicht barrierefrei, was für Gäste mit eingeschränkter Mobilität problematisch sein kann.

Service Der Service war schnell, freundlich und aufmerksam – hier gibt es keine Kritik. Die Kellner haben sich gut um uns gekümmert und waren stets zur Stelle, ohne aufdringlich zu sein.

Fazit Das Corner Steakhouse bietet mit dem heißen Stein und einem soliden Rinderfilet eine nostalgische Erfahrung. Verglichen mit perfekt gegrillten Steaks, z.B. im Beef Club, Berlin oder selbst bei Blockhouse ist das Corner allerdings eher Regional/ Kreisklasse. Hier geht definitiv mehr.

Leider bleibt das Gesamtbild hinter den Erwartungen zurück: Das Ambiente wirkt altmodisch, und es fehlt an Feinschliff bei den Details. Für einen entspannten Abend in rustikaler Atmosphäre ist es in Ordnung, aber wer auf moderne Einrichtung und durchdachte Präsentation Wert legt, könnte enttäuscht sein und natürlich gibt es auch beim Fleisch noch Luft nach oben. Mit 5 Mann 250€ ist ein Pfund, trotzdem war der Laden proppenvoll, sodass man unbedingt...

Excellent cuts of meat! Large thick, tender, and juicy cuts lightly seasoned and served raw. Steaks come out on a hot stone and you cook it yourself right at the table. You never have to complain that the steak was cooked wrong! The steaks are priced very well for the portions. They also have lamb at a great price too! Meats are served with three dipping sauces to choose from.

All side dishes are a la carte. I haven't found one I don't like yet. Their potatoes come served several ways.

The restaurant gets a little smokey when it's busy. All the steaks cooking on the tables create a little smoke. But, the smell is amazing! 😁 You can't go wrong eating...
