Ristorante Pinocchio — Restaurant in Schweich an der Römischen Weinstraße

The pizza's were great but the service was very poor. We had a table on the very beautiful and cozy terrace and although all the tables were occupied there seemed to be only one person appointed to wait on the terrace. Not that they were shortstaffed, there were plenty of staff covering the inside restaurant. Every time we wanted to ask something we were either completely ignored and/or had to wait an eternity before we got it. As a result we (we were a group of six) didn't ate our main courses nor deserts simultaneously. And in the end, when I wanted to pay, it turned out that the credit card reader was out of order and I had to go looking for an ATM to withdraw cash. We came here on a Sunday night since almost everything else was closed. Everything was just ok. We asked to sit outside since the restaurant itself was very stuffy, crowded, and loud. There were many tables open, but were told no since we didn’t have a reservation. Since we didn’t have any other options we decided to stay. The person who waited on us was prompt, the food came out quickly, but it was so busy, the servers were racing around everywhere. I don’t think they were unfriendly, just overwhelmed. Both the pizza and pasta were very bland. Only the spicy oil helped the pizza and a lot of salt and pepper gave the pasta some flavor. I didn't like this restaurant at all. I had a gnocchi with pomodoro sauce. The gnocchi itself was hard (or tough) and the sauce tasted like supermarket shelf sauce. My husband had a lasagna bolognese. Again the sauce presented the same problem as with the other dish. On top of that both dishes were heavy salted. In my opinion any Italian restaurant should be able to make a proper tomato sauce. This is just basic skill. The staff don't speak English, the menus are only in German, what makes the communication difficult. Don't waist your time and money, make a reservation and go to the restaurant in front...
