H’ugo’s Beach Club — Restaurant in Starnberg

The restaurant has great view and ok food, but our experience was ruined by poor communication and service. Our group of six people came to Germany for my husband's birthday. Knowing the large portions here, we ordered five main dish to share, including a plate of mixed grilled fish. We liked the octopus and squid in the mix grill and asked the waitress whether we can get another order of just the octopus and squid. It's not on the manu, but she said they can do it. She asked how big we want the size to be. We told her we want the same size as the mix fish grill (which cost 26.99) but forgot to ask for the price. To our surprise, she served us a huge plate of grilled squid and octopus which looks like 3x the size of the original dish. We said it's too big, she smiled and said "but it's his birthday", so we took it as a compliment from the kitchen. Given the size of the dish, we were ready to pay 50-80 euro and a good tip, but when the bill came it was 170 euro for that one dish. We were very upset and asked for the manager, the waitress told us that manager doesn't speak English. We inisited, and eventually the the manager came. He DID speak English. We explained our frustrations again and asked if there's something he can do about the bill,. he said we should have talked before we started eating the dish (well we would have,if someone has told s it's an order for six portion, not a normal size, or compliment for my husband's birthday). We ended up paying 390 euro for the meal and packed two boxed of grilled octopus and squid that we couldn't finish. It's a poor experience, really not the honesty we expect in Germany, or the service level of a seemingly...

Catastrophic place that I would never recommend to anybody. We went once and the service was horrible - no « hello », no smile, no importance given to the customer - the food and drinks were tasteless and the prices were far higher than average in the area. Somebody wanted this to be a luxury place but they only put the luxury prices, not the luxury service and not the food/drinks quality that should go with it. We went a second time just to see if perhaps the first time was an exceptional bad experience. Unfortunately, the second time was worse: we waited 10 minutes at the entrance for a table for 4. Waiters and waitresses came back and forth, not even looking at us. Nobody said a word to us. There were many tables available. I moved forward to a place where there were more waitresses, and asked if we could get a table and they were aggressive and impolite, saying we had to wait. Again, no hello, and they even refused to respond when I said that I had been waiting for 10 minutes (again, the place was half-empty!). Of course, we left and went to another place. I have rarely had such a terrible customer experience and will never set foot in that place again. Simply a disaster and a scam. If I could put 0 stars on...

Location is great, previous experiences were really good with great service, but this time the service was terrible!!! Incredibly rude and disrespectful waitress (in her 50s with dark hair).

From the moment we arrived at the entrance she spoke rudely, we wanted to choose a place, (there were a lot of free seats and tables) she gets angry at us and aggressive, starts saying stuff in Italian I guess, and it did not sound good... We actually thought we did something wrong, but then we notice that almost every table was complaining.

We even felt bad when we wanted to order, couldn't even ask to order as they get upset when you want to order something as if you only get one chance to order. We actually got a cup with lipstick still on it, but didn't dare to ask for another one, due to how terrible the service was.

When paying we were asked for a tip and declined due to the service and that got then even more upset...

Sad to see a nice place with such service. Never again if the service remains like this, it harms...
