My Experience at Chola Restaurant –
I had an incredibly disappointing and unpleasant experience at Chola restaurant in Stuttgart.
We were felt harassed at the restaurant, and the staff was constantly on our table and felt, like forced to move out of the restaurant without even finishing our food.
The lack of basic courtesy and respect was shocking, especially for a restaurant that claims to cater to customers. Dining out should feel enjoyable, not like you’re walking on eggshells or being targeted.
If you’re looking for a pleasant and respectful dining experience, I strongly advise avoiding this place. There are plenty of other restaurants in Stuttgart where you’ll be treated kindly and enjoy your meal in peace. Chola is definitely NOT one of them.
Update 1: Later yesterday, we went to our house and realized that how the restaurant staff behaved with my family and my friends was a clear harassment and violation of our dignity, and saw similar comments by other people. Then we approached the Police Department at Martin-Luther-Straße 40-42, Bad Cannstatt, 70372 Stuttgart to put out complaint. There we were informed that best way to deal with such incidents is by contacting police directly at the scene via hotline. They took our complaint and assured us that if similar complaints are received for any restaurant/place, police would definitely take an appropriate action. We were also advised to contact Office against discrimination (I attached a photo).
Update 2: I saw the Owner replied to an comment as 20 fake accounts putting the review. Since the reviews have genuine comments, and bill information and also the Photos, how canbe fake? And what about paid Instagram posts by the restaurant? These are real experiences by real people
Update 3: In reply to comment posted by my Friend the restaurant has replied about bringing your own drinks, let me clarify and also can be verified by the video posted and the bill. We purchased the bottle of water, the water was cold so we took out our own bottle which was...
Read moreI used to be one of Chola’s biggest supporters in Stuttgart. After my first visit over a year ago, I was genuinely impressed. The food was flavorful, authentic, and the service made the experience even better. I recommended this place to anyone looking for good Indian food friends, colleagues, even people visiting the city. It felt like a hidden gem.
That’s why my recent visit was such a letdown.
Everything that made this restaurant special seemed to be missing. The quality had dropped so drastically, it didn’t even feel like the same place. What we were served didn’t just lack flavor it honestly didn’t feel like it was made with care.
The chicken curry was probably the most disappointing. It was just pre-boiled chicken tossed into a bland sauce that didn’t resemble curry in taste or texture. It felt unfinished. The parotta was rubbery and dry, almost like it had been reheated. The chicken lollipop was overly salty and undercooked, which made it really hard to eat. Even something as basic as dosa with sambar was off the sambar tasted like it had been sitting around for a while and the dosa wasn’t fresh either.
It was frustrating, mostly because I know what this place used to be capable of. I didn’t expect luxury dining, but I did expect something edible and respectful of the cuisine they claim to serve. Instead, it felt careless both in the kitchen and in the way the food was presented. Salad was a joke prepared with stocked veggies. You should take customers serious!!
I didn’t deserve that as a returning customer, and I definitely can’t recommend the place to anyone anymore. I truly hope they realize how far the quality has fallen, but until then, I won’t be going back. It’s a shame when a restaurant you once loved lets you...
Read moreThe food items ordered were Medu vada - it was crisp and tasty.. But as cold as it was prepared couple of hours back. Even if it was reheated by any means. It would be better appreciated. Paneer 65 - crispy and hot, tasted well with the shop purchased imli chutney Masala tea - tea was hot and spicy, but due to over boiling it tasted a little bitter Butter masala dosa - good dosa with a decent size Family dosa - good sized dosa with two chutney and a bigger Bowl of sambar compared to the other dosa Parotta with chicken salna - DISASTER and DISAPPOINTING to the core. It's just shop brought frozen parotta, under cooked. Even if being shop purchased frozen parotta, it would have tasted better if it was of a better quality and cooked well. Salna was the veg salna with a very moderate spice level and boiled chicken without salt or spice added to it as we order it. To the fact that chicken never blended with the gravy, I had to leave the chicken aside and eat some of the parotta with the gravy. This could be a no problem for a non South Indian or Indian. However not a fit to the 1% expectations you could have from a South Indian Restaurant. Mango Lassi - tasted well, would recommend. Sweet corn veg soup - tasted well, however too less quantity for the cost. I would quantify it to a cup of tea.
Chutneys and sambar - chutneys were non spicy or miss the punch to the one you even prepare at home with frozen coconut or baking use dry coconut powder (Kokosraspeln) you get from supermarkets. Sambar was watery with a better taste for the dosa.
Service was fast considering the earlier reviews I see. Ambience is good and with the train station nearby is a good spot for...
