Café-Restaurant Edelweiß — Restaurant in Unterammergau (VGem)

As usual with most of my travels, I attempt to stop into many of the main restaurants of the area to conduct a review. This Restaurant is great for solo or family stops. I ordered this burger that had cheese and cranberry sauce on it. Other than the bun of the bread being a bit hard, the burger was good. On the side was sweat potato fries where were perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the special (Chocolate Mousse), which was an amazing display of excitement. I paired it with a shot of Ettaler Klosterliqueur Blueberry (perfect pairing). Staff was open and friendly and interactive with the guests. They had a small dog behind the bar that I never got to see, but occasionally heard, which just added to the laugher of the environment, as it would only bark when it was told to be quiet. When you the bar keep didn't say anything it was nice and quiet...

We stopped for a quick snack and it was nothing special. Unfortunately, the waitress was being passive-aggressive with guests. The same menu items are offered at every restraunt in the town and surrounding area. Nothing special. I was delighted to see ice cream on the menu, but was severely disappointed by the portion size for its price. It's TINY. The mango sorbet was self-made (pre-portioned by a supplier) and was made from not fully ripe magoes... it was very tart. It didn't help that the waitress delivered our dishes at different times, so my sorbet was almost melted by the time our other dishes arrived. Not horrible, but also below the standard other locations have set...

Exceptional food and exceptional service. Everything we ordered was delicious. The apple strudel in vanilla sauce was to die for. The service staff spoke excellent English. They were so nice with our small children, which we do not experience everywhere we go. They had some toys in the restaurant for the kids, which kept them occupied and we were able to enjoy our meal.
