Hotel Schwarzwälder Hof is situated in 10 minutes walking from the centre of Achern. It has 20 rooms. The overall impression is that of a hotel which is well maintained and clean. ||A relatively narrow room on the 1st floor was given to us at our arrival. It has queen size bed. As we are an elderly couple and no honeymooners, we asked for a more convenient quarter. Thankfully we were allowed to move to a larger room with a king size bed on the 2nd floor. The small and the big rooms are both recently renovated, equipped with a recliner chair and a desk. ||The bathroom was spacious, bright and clean. However, the shower cabin is narrow and is no longer of today’s standard. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. A bottle of complimentary mineral water is placed in the room. The accommodation is conforming to the advertised 3-star comfort. Some rooms may have a noise nuisance, especially in the summer months. The hotel is located on a roundabout; and sleeping by open window may be problematic, as the rooms are not aircon fitted. ||The breakfast was adequately garnished with products of good quality. Freshly prepared egg dishes are offered. The Schwarzwälder Hof is a popular gourmet restaurant serving Baden/Alsatian cuisine. The food is deliciously and freshly prepared. It was necessary for us to reserve a table, because the restaurant was fully booked. For the quality of the food, the meals are fairly priced. ||Free parking is available in front of the hotel. Unfortunately, there is no lift, which makes the hotel not an ideal for disabled guests. The employees were without exception courteous...

Read moreI arrived with 3 other friends on a motorcycle trip to the Black Forest. It was clear that our approach wasn't silent, because one of the hotel staff was outside immediately and directed us to park securely in a garage on-site. Great start!|My room was in the second floor facing the front. It was hot/humid during our 3 nights and as there is no air con I opened Windows fully all night. The only downside is that from around 0600 you hear the church bells loud and clear. That said after the first night I tuned out from them and wasn't disturbed by them. |My room was very comfortable and clean. Wardrobe space was fine for me but would be a little tight for two. The bathroom was a good size. I didn't use the TV. |Breakfast was included in the room rate. It was excellent with a buffet that contained fruit, cream, cheese, meats, cereal. Eggs could also be ordered. |The hotel has an outside garden / dining area. Great for a beer at the end of a day's ride. We also ate there one evening - the best of our three dinners in the town. |The staff was friendly. One lady spoke excellent English (our German is rubbish) and she was super helpful. |Wifi worked well...
