Sen Haltingen - asian ciusine — Restaurant in Weil am Rhein

Last dinner. Came on a friday night and we totally understand that friday nights could be busy. It took them almost an hour to deliver of probably a total of 10 big sushis. I inquired at the bar with why the group table next to us got their mains already even if they came in after us. The small, thin guy (probably the manager) snapped that they came before us although that wasnt the case. Totally unfriendly and unprofessional. Another stupid thing I was told was that sushi is „cold kitchen“ thats why it needed more time. I didnt understand the logic that cold food needs more time than warm food. And guess what? Our „crunchy“ sushi arrived and it was warm because it needed frying 🙄

Will never come back. I think if you‘re that unfriendly and unaccomodating towards your customers, you just destroy everything no matter how good...

We were very impressed by the food at Sen. All portions were large, fresh, and very good. In particular, we ordered the rice noodles with crispy chicken (in the photo). The chicken was prepared exactly like crispy duck. Unique and excellent!

Also worth noting are the various drinks like Ginger Wonder and Sen. Although they cost a bit more, they are very good.

The next visit will be to test their extensive sushi menu. We look forward to that.

Update: A return trip to try sushi and other dishes was also excellent. As others have noted, when the restaurant is busy the service can be a bit slow. We just relax and...

Wir waren am Sonntag, 15.01.23 um 17.30 Uhr mit meiner Frau und meiner Tochter in Haltingen essen. Wir wurden nett empfangen und durften uns einen Platz aussuchen.

Ein junger Kellner hat unsere Bestellung aufgenommen, während wir es dann von einer anderen jungen Kellnerin serviert bekommen haben. Es war alles in Ordnung.

Das Shushi (Crunchy) war grandios! Unsere Hauptspeisen, das Fleisch war nicht so toll, war das Essen absolut in Ordnung.

Was aber danach passierte und es passiert zum 2x… ist nicht mehr akzeptabel. Der etwas ältere, wahrscheinlich Vorarbeiter/Besitzer hat dann abkassiert, nachdem wir die Rechnung wollten. An seiner Mimik habe ich schon gemerkt, dass er gereizt ist, von uns konnte das nicht kommen, da wir, wie gesagt von der „jüngeren Generation“ bedient worden sind. Er hat weder Danke gesagt, es gab Trinkgeld, noch Tschüss oder Ähnliches. Erst nachdem wir dann gesagt haben, mit bestimmter Stimme, schönen Abend noch, Ciao, kam ein trockenes unfreundliches Ciao Ciao.

Ich verstehe absolut, dass die Gastronomie sehr schwer ist und das man schlechte Tage hat, bzw. Kunden die sehr rücksichtslos sind, dass darf man aber nicht bei uns auslassen… Am Anfang wird man begrüßt, am Ende nach der Rechnung unfreundlich „abgespeist“.

So schade… das Ambiente, Sushi, die jungen Kellner sind so nett. Der Herr hat mit seinen 60 Sekunden alles kaputt gemacht.
