Bauer Schmidt has terrible owners and I would not recommend going to any American. Let me explain:
We had a going away party for a friend and spent over 500 euro that night. Someone in our party knew they could not drink and drive so they reserved a room that would cost 30 euro at the beginning of the dinner. He said that all the rooms were open when they took him upstairs to let him choose which room he wanted. By the end of the night he was offered a couch from a friend and I would be the designated driver.
While trying to leave and pay the waitress insisted that we pay for the room. She said that they had already turned people away because the room was taken (remember all those empty rooms though?). We said no and that he should not pay for a room he did not use. She got the manager who also insisted we pay the 30 euro. When we said no again he said we had not brought as many people to the party as they thought we would (again, over 500 euro was paid for dinner), if we ordered a beer and didn't drink it you'd still have to pay (there was no pre-reservation fee ever agreed upon), he was going to take our pictures, and call the polizei!
He then grabbed a camera and started flashing it in the faces of folks in our party, even after someone had agreed to pay just to satisfy the guy. Any establishment that will bully and threaten its customers for a product not used and a price not worth it is a poor establishment. I am pretty sure he would've gotten into trouble with the polizei for threatening us and taking our picture but the night ended there.
I do not recommend this place at all. They are desperate for your money and will threaten you if you do not pay for things you did not use. Also, I have been there about five times before and they do a weird thing where they come and take your picture while you are eating and say it's "for the website". It's weird...
Read moreFirst of all, let me say, I've never left a bad review. But, after today, I felt I should warn others, so they might not find themselves in a similar situation. We just arrived here and were ordering pizza for our movers. They were not allowed to eat pork or beef per their religion. but requested pizza with veggies. When ordering peppers on the pizza, the waitress wrote "pepperoni" or something very similar. Someone in the restaurant told me that this in fact was not meat, but when I went on Goggle and searched, the word for pepper was very different. So, again, I'm new and don't want to offend our movers. I just wanted some reassurance. There was a language barrier, so the waitress went and got the manager. He came over and told me to put my Google translator away and yelled at me for not knowing German when ordering. I've never been yelled at or talked down to so much in my life. I cancelled the order and walked out. The last time I cried was years ago. I held it together long enough to make it to my car. He made me feel like a complete waste of a human. Needless to way, we will never go back. Not only that, I wouldn't walk on the same side of the street as that...
Read moreWe arrived at check-in time 16:00 and were met by the bar lady and given a free beer, we were told it will be 15mins until our room was ready, after asking several times about our room we finally received the key 2hrs later. We had just ridden 400km in 30c heat and just wanted to get changed out of our bike gear and get a shower. There looked to be 4/5 members of staff walking around with keys and no idea what to do with them. The room itself was at the top of an incredibly steep staircase and although looked clean was not, the floor was covered in dust etc. As 2 foreign bikers staying in a hotel run by bikers we thought somebody might have said hello but this was not the case until the morning off check out when a man and woman who were bikers asked us if we had paid, I can only assume they were the owners. We had already paid in full so just packed our kit and left without breakfast, it is such a pity as this hotel/bar has a lot of potential, we would...
