Restaurant Daus — Restaurant in Wittlich

Very good traditional German restaurant. If you're in Wittlich and looking for a taste of the Fatherland, look no further than Daus. I enjoyed the Gypsy schnitzel while my wife really like the Hawaii schnitzel, and there's a decent little salad bar as well. They didn't offer us a menu in English (not a problem for me), but they do have an English menu on their website. Unfortunately the daily lunch specials menu is only in German. It's a good idea to make a reservation as they have very limited seating...

Typisches gut bürgerliches Ambiente im Restaurant - das passt prima, muss im Restaurant nicht immer modern und kühl sein. Der Erst Service sehr schnell und freundlich - ruckzuck hat man seine Wünsche für Getränke und Speisen geäußert, eine Minute später waren die ersten Getränke auf dem Tisch.

Leider wurde man aber nicht nach einem zweiten Getränk gefragt. Das Restaurant war gut besucht, ein Kontakt mit dem Service war vielleicht deshalb nicht mehr möglich? (ohne selbst zur Theke zu gehen).

Das Essen hat leider gar nicht überzeugt. Das Wiener Schnitzel sah doch sehr nach TK Convenience Food aus und war bestimmt nicht frisch paniert und in der Pfanne in Backfett schwimmend gebacken. Daher ist die Panade nicht fluffig und das Fleischstück äußerlich sehr trocken. Dazu trockene Standard TK Pommes - kann die Küche keine Kartoffeln frisch in der Maschine schneiden und frittieren?

Nicht das das alles fürchterlich geschmeckt hätte. Eine raffinierte Eigenkreation ist das Gericht so nicht und hat zudem null Anspruch auf ein handwerklich ordentliches und mit Herz und Leidenschaft gekochtes Essen.

Daher ist es auch weit überteuert, einen Preis von über 20 Euro aufzurufen, als ob alles frisch aus qualitativ hochwertigen regionalen Produkten in der Restaurantküche...
