Small town restaurants deserve our support, and this one as much as much as any. So, yes we had issues with the meal, and you'll get my usual kitchen insider microscopic sarcasm. But this is a good place with a team as dedicated as a formula 1 pit crew (the one that wins). The traditional soup, soljanka was in fact a lot more polished than the ones my long dead rellies slapped together in Esens (so I'm told). The requested bread was so inedible, we would have been better of denied it. The fish dish looked well put together. And the concept was as solid as the ancient walls surrounding this stunning town. Execution had a few misses. The fish itself needs about half the time this poor deceased swimmer got. What it got in cooking time it lacked in seasoning. I'm a very, very light user of salt in cooking, but fish needs to be seasoned. I would say that there was zero salt on the flesh side, and roughly the same in the otherwise well constructed coating. The potatoes were also under seasoned for our taste, but maybe not for most, and not fatally so. The cucumber salad was fine, but at this level i would suggest more is gained from the raddish if added a la minute. The home made cakes looked a little tired for a restaurant re opening after their "weekend". The poppyseed "flan-style" was taken away, and was extremely heavy on the sugar, though well made. The Styrofoam packaging out of step with today (unless there's something new in "envirofoam"?. As I opened with, restaurants here work about as hard as the farmers that surround them. Please don't let my review dissuade you.

Tausend Dank. S. A.

Wow!

Had the pumpkin risotto with pan-roasted chicken breast and it was quite delicious. Had a late lunch with my baby daughter and the place is notably spacious (which is uncommon in Germany) and very child-friendly. The decor is quite welcomingly simple and yet mod and elegant in its own right. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is small but nicely varied. I’d gladly return - with baby and husband in tow for a delicious, baby-friendly meal in an...
