Restaurant EL GREGO — Restaurant in Zell (Mosel)

Rang to book, explained it was my husbands 50th birthday and we would like a table for 4. They offered to decorate the table for the occasion. We arrived, and they asked if we were the group there to celebrate. Our table was occupied by other people who left when we arrived. We had a large round table squashed round the side of the bar. It was too big for us to talk to each other, was not set for a meal let alone decorated for a celebration. There were four of us and only 3 sets of cutlery strewn across the table.

After 30 mins we went to ask if we could order drinks. We ordered the food at the same time as the drinks and moved to the table next to us when it became vacant. At least we could now hear each other.

A little while later 1 salad arrived and our drinks and that was it. Nothing more. We watched other people arrive and be served drinks and food but nothing for us. After 1 hour 15 minutes we asked how much longer the food was likely to be "I don't know, I don't work in the kitchen". And it went down hill from there. 1.5 hours after arriving we still had no food and decided to leave. We paid for our drinks and left.

I have never ever walked out of a restaurant before but have never come across such spectacularly bad service.

Steer clear of this place at all costs... Especially if you are hoping for a nice meal to...

Stayed in Zell over Christmas and this was one of the only restaurants open. We turned up late with 9 people and we hadn't booked but they sorted us some tables next to each other. Had a great atmosphere about the place and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, me and my girlfriend had a sharing platter and it was the best thing I ate for a while. It had kebabs, steaks and shredded lamb all cooked to perfection. And the salads were just as tasty. The kids really enjoyed their meals too they had schnitzel which were really good sized portions and my daughter had fish fingers and they bought a plate with about 16 of them on! Unterirdischer service

Wir waren angemeldet mit Tisch Reservierung und der Bemerkung, dass wir einen Geburtstag feiern wollten. Als wir ankamen ( pünktlich) mussten erst einmal ein paar Stammgäste vom Tisch verscheucht werden.der Tisch war dementsprechend vorbereitet, mit drei statt vier gedecken. Nach fast einer halben Stunde erinnerte man sich an uns und nahm die Getränkebestellung auf. Bald darauf auch die Speien. Nach 75 Minuten hatten wir ausser einem kleinen Salat und den Getranken noch nichts bekommen, noch hatte irgendjemand mal nachgefragt. Auf meine Frage ob es denn noch lange dauere (wir waren mit Kindern da) bekam ich als Antwort, sie sei nicht in der Küche (sollte wohl heißen "keine Ahnung") und es komme so aus der Küche wie bestellt. Keinerlei Empathie oder "ich frag mal nach" oder irgendwie geartetes Interesse an mir als Gast. Ich sage, dass das nicht unbedingt die Einstellung sei, die man als servicekraft gegenüber einem Gast zeigen sollte (ich war die ganze Zeit freundlich und ruhig, keine Aufregung), und dass wir noch 15 Minuten warten wollten. Wenn nichts da sei würden wir die Getranke bezahlen und gehen. "OK, Tschüss" war alles, was dem service zu einem Gast einfiel, der droht, das Lokal zu verlassen. Daraufhin gingen wir sofort. Beim Bezahlen der Getränke wurde ich dann auch noch zur Eile gedrängt, sie müsse schließlich ihrer Arbeit nachgehen. Gute Frau, wenn sie Ihre Arbeit gleich richtig gemacht hätten, dann wären wir gar nicht gegangen! Also, ich kenne Griechische Gastfreundschaft sehr anders (in Restaurants in Deutschland!) und bin noch nie im Leben vor Erhalt der Speisen aus einem Restaurant gegangen. Ich weiss nicht was wir den Leuten getan haben, so schlecht behandelt zu werden, denn als wir gingen, bekamen Gäste, die 45 Minuten nach uns gekommen waren, ihr Essen. Es war voll,aber der Laden ist nicht so gross dass man den nicht mit 2 Leuten bedienen könnte. Von unserer Seite daher klares Urteil: Service unterirdisch, Küche auf diese Weise leider nicht...
