We arrived at 12:30 for lunch and the waiter said if we wanted jollof, we’d have to wait for over an hour and I’m like it’s just about lunch time so what are you saying. That aside, we wanted fried rice with turkey and ampesi, well, as at that time, turkey was finished and we could only get some the next day 😳😳😳 So we requested for fried rice and grilled chicken and it came after I’d finished my ampesi so we ended up bagging it on the go. The environment was very nice with a huge car park ( but still customers were struggling to get a place to park🫢) The food was delicious even though the yam was cold The meals and drinks are reasonably priced as well. I honestly regretted driving from Spintex to Mile 7. I wouldn’t recommend the place for anyone who is time bound. After this experience I visited again and again 😂 to be sure about my review but as usual waiters are always giving excuses why something can not be offered at a particular time. I wanted Fante kenkey with spicy fish stew as was stated in their menu for the day and the waiter said they didn’t have fish on that day, fish is only available on red red days so I’m like why is it in the menu 🤷🏻‍♀️? I visited another time and requested for Banku and okro stew and I was very disappointed! I was expecting stew like I see on their social media handles but this was soup with no oil and OMG, the goat meat , intestines and wele were hard and unchewable so I resorted to chewing the salmon in my portion. When I reported to the waitress, it was only “we are sorry” that I got 🤣🤣🤣 One constant thing that runs through always is their denial/ refusal when you request for extras 🙆🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️🙆🏾‍♀️. Eeeiii, it’s like it’s for free….it’s either it will take time or they have a lot of orders and can’t give you an extra chicken or turkey. It’s always very annoying when you can’t have what you want…… I visited another time and the experience was not that bad 🫢…. I managed to get all my extras 🤣 I’ve had the following meals at Ayewamu by Jane; 1. Ampesi with garden eggs stew 2. Ampesi with kontomire 3. Check check 4. Waakye preman 5. Fried rice with chicken 6. Jollof with turkey 7. Banku and okro 8. Red red special with rice 9. Plain rice with turkey / chicken stew 10. Fante kenkey with spicy turkey stew 11. Ice kenkey 12. Angwamo loaded 13. Gari fortor with chicken My personal favourite for now is the red red with rice, it is to die for 😋😋😋 One thing about Ayewamu is, if you want to be served early, arrive earlier around midday. The place is usually less busy. After several weeks of waiting in anticipation, I finally got to taste the assorted jollof rice and I must say, I was not disappointed. Big chunks of goat meat, sausage, gizzard and veggies mixed in the jollof rice. With all these in the jollof, you will turn to get a small quantity of the rice 😂🤣. Expect more updates because I’m always tempted to have lunch there because their pricing is reasonable and their food is nutritious 😋😋😋

Not an exaggeration when I say this is one of the BEST LOCAL FOOD JOINT in Accra 💯 1. FOOD The menu which depends on the day offer some of the most mouthwatering local meals I’ve had in this city. I’ve tried the Jollof and Grilled Chicken, Loaded Angwamo, Banku and Okro, Fufu and light soup, Omo-Tuo and groundnut soup and TZ and none was a disappointment. The meal portions are so much that you’ll hardly not be able to finish it. Reasonably priced, the meals come with so much protein and garnish that will leave you drooling! P.S it’s 10gh to pack away unfinished meals 2. DRINKS I’m yet to have dinner and try drinks from their bar but their local bissap juice and pineapple juice taste refreshing and sweet. 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE With more than enough hands around, waiters are always on standby to serve. My waiter was super friendly and patient in taking our orders and serving our meals. Our food took less than 20mins to come out. 4. LOCATION Easily accessible, their car park isn’t bi enough for their busy days/times. The space has 3 sitting areas: 2 outdoor (perfect for groups) and 1 enclosed area (perfect for couple dinner/lunch date). The aesthetics inside and outside is beautiful and creates a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy your meal. P.S Don’t go here on Saturday and Sunday if you’re really hungry. It’s usually choked with people, you’ll stand for long before getting a sit, the wait time for food is over 30mins and by 3pm most items on their menu wouldn’t be available. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with how good the meals tasted, the quantity and prices. A budget of 80gh will be perfect for a solo meal and drink. We spent 300gh for 3 meals, 4drinks and 3 bottles water. Definitely going back to try other items on their menu. I’ll 💯 recommend this spot.

I had the pleasure of taking a lunch at Ayewamu, a local Ghanaian dishes restaurant, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home. My friends and I decided to try some of the restaurant's signature dishes. I opted for the classic Jollof rice, a West African favorite known for its vibrant flavors and aromatic spices. The Jollof rice at Ayewamu did not disappoint; it was a perfect blend of tomato goodness and perfectly cooked rice. However, what made our experience even more special was that some of my friends decided to be more adventurous and ordered Tuo Zaafi, a well-known and delicious Ghanaian delicacy. Tuo Zaafi consists of fermented maize dough served with a flavorful soup, typically prepared with meat, fish, or vegetables. It's a dish deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture, and Ayewamu's rendition was exceptional. The tender dough paired with the savory soup created a unique and satisfying taste that left my friends raving about their choice. In addition to the exceptional food and service, the restaurant's ambiance is cozy and culturally immersive, with traditional Ghanaian decor that adds to the overall charm. Ayewamu is a hidden gem for anyone looking to savor the true essence of Ghanaian cuisine. Whether you're a fan of classic dishes like Jollof rice or want to explore local delicacies like Tuo Zaafi, this restaurant offers a diverse menu that caters to different preferences. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their delectable offerings.
