I recently had a highly disappointing experience with Mamaluka restaurant in Chalkidiki. I made a reservation five days in advance and provided two mobile numbers to ensure they could reach me. However, on the day of my reservation, I received a confusing and frustrating cancellation message.
The message read:
“Dear customer We are contacting you from Mamaluka restaurant, in regard to the reservation you had for today at 21:30. First of all, we hope that you are well and that nothing unpleasant has happened to you. Our attempts to reach you were unsuccessful and we had no information that you intended to cancel your reservation. By not showing up you have put us in an unpleasant position since we were unable to serve other visitors that requested to come to our place. Not showing up without informing as before hand is also disrespectful of the efforts of so many people who constitute the Mamalouka family.
Thank you for your understanding.”
This message left me perplexed. Not only was it poorly worded and somewhat accusatory, but it also made no sense given the situation. I had not missed the reservation, nor had I failed to inform them of any changes. In fact, I was planning to attend as scheduled.
Immediately after receiving this message, I called the restaurant to clarify the situation. Unfortunately, the feedback I received over the phone was poor and unhelpful. The staff seemed uninterested in resolving the issue and offered no satisfactory explanation for the cancellation. Instead of addressing the mix-up, they were dismissive and unapologetic, which added to my frustration.
The lack of professionalism from the reservation agent and the accusatory tone in their communication was upsetting. It's clear that Mamaluka needs to improve their reservation and customer communication processes and department. Despite their efforts to appear considerate, the message felt more like an unfair reprimand than an apology or genuine concern for a misunderstanding.
I expected a higher level of service and communication from a restaurant with such a reputation. This experience has left a sour taste, and I am unlikely to consider dining at Mamaluka again. It's a shame, as I was looking forward to what I had heard was an excellent...
Read moreThe presentation of the food was decent. Nothing too exciting.
The quality of the food was decent not fancy.
In terms of pricing, it was towards the expensive side. For instance, the seafood souvlaki skewer was around 26 Euros and my friend's pasta (with shrimps, mussels and fish) was around 25 euros. The plates were filling but small though. We would pay similar prices in Finland. For Greek standards it was overpriced.
For 5 people we paid around 200 EUROS including one bottle of wine, one salad, 5 mains and one octapus tentacle to share.
The service was UNACCEPTABLE for a restaurant that is considered ''upscale''. Let's start:
1)It took them more than 30 minutes to bring us the bill.
3)The waiter was rude. Never smiling, never being courteous. In one notable instance when I asked the waiter '' Do you think my plate is filling for one person?'', he responded '' ''What can I say man?'' (transl. Τι να σου πω ρε φιλε;) in a very rude manner.
The waiters were demonstratively paying attention and taking care of the tables of other foreign groups or groups which were ordering more expensive dishes.
The staff ignored us when we tried to order additional plates or when we asked for a spoon.
Would my friends and I recommend this restaurant again? NO with a capital ''N''. There are far superior options in the area in terms of quality of food...
Read moreI don’t recommend this place as the service and food are below the average.
The parking is paid - 10€ - Although, the guy there was really polite and you don’t have to search for a parking spot around, it is still strange that as a guest of the restaurant you need to pay.
Food is below average. Only the desserts were good. Pasta was overcooked. Really nothing special
Staff is really impolite and unorganised. We booked via the website 2 weeks in advance. The girl was not able to find our reservation although we had a confirmation via mail. The waitress told us that we can stay after our slot on the table as there are no other reservations after that, so we ordered more food. 10 min later the hostess came and told us that we have to leave because our slot is over. They told us that we could be moved on the bar. We asked if there other reservations there and they told us that there are only to people next to us. 1h later they put more than 6 people next to us.
I really had big expectations for this restaurant.
The next restaurant Mare Nostra and beach bar is much more better and not so...
