Great place to have lunch or dine. One of the oldest restaurants in Katerini, over 23 years of activity.
Food --- The chef prepares various courses each day. This is due to the fact that he is sourcing most (if not all) his ingredients from local (and usually small) farms/providers. For example, he served us a desert (his own recipe) where the main ingredient was buffalo milk sourced from a farm 30km away from Katerini. Before the desert he prepared a spaghetti beans salad (greek green beans, but they grow really long, up to 1 meter). Those spaghetti beans are specific to a single greek island, and because they are difficult to obtain, he decided to grow his own!
The overall quality of the food is outstanding. And the portions are huge.
Also, please listen to his recommendations!
Service --- At least as good as the food! The owner personally greeted us, asked about our preferances, talked to us about the restaurant, the city and the surrounding area. The waiter, is an equally pleasant person! Very careful with our needs, and he also shared some stories with us about the greek culture and the greek habits.
I know they are probably not reading this, but a big "thank you" to both of them!
Extremely profesional and passioned people!
Price --- It really depends where you come from. So I won't describe it as being high or low.
But, what I can tell you is that a meal for one person (2 craft beers included) is around 25-30€.
Please remember that you're paying for locally sourced ingredients, huge portions, and a top level food quality and service!
I highly...
Read moreSIMPLY ‘SUPERB’!!! The AMALTHEIA restaurant offers vegetarians, vegans and meat-lovers delicacies at the highest culinary level using seasonal, regional ingredients from organic farming. The preparation of the dishes surprises with an overwhelming composition of ingredients and flavours. Whether it was a starter with bean pods with honey aivar, aubergine casserole with cheese and nuts, or the courgette pie with strawberry and salad combination, and, and, and,...... it was once again a real treat for the palate. There was also a selection of home-baked breads and sticks. On top as dessert: carob cake on a bed of vanilla and pomegranate-orange digestif to finish, a poem! If you are looking for something away from chips and souvlaki, you are more than in good hands here. The friendly owner-brother duo only surpasses these culinary delights with their warmth - it is obviously their passion to conjure up these wonderfully composed dishes; the portions are very generous and the prices are absolutely reasonable, a real ‘bargain’ for what...
Read more⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful evening at a true family-run Greek restaurant! 🇬🇷🍷
The place is run by two brothers who pour their hearts into everything they do – and you can feel it in both the food and the atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, they warmly welcomed us, recommended wine and dishes, and shared lots of interesting stories about the ingredients and preparation.
We had a variety of starters – all delicious and beautifully presented. For mains, we chose dishes like shrimps saganaki and octopus with vegetables and potatoes – everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The kids had souvlaki, which they also really enjoyed.
The brothers happily told us where the octopus was caught, that the cherry tomatoes came from their own garden, and shared many little details that made the whole experience feel personal and special.
It was a lovely evening, with amazing food and truly kind people. Thank you for the genuine Greek hospitality – we absolutely recommend this place and will definitely...
