I Strofi you Mimi may look, at first, like a restaurant that is too fashionable to be good, but this very far from the case. The tables out on the sandy beach, lit with the soft glow of white lanterns and accented with palm trees, flowers, and - delightfully- wooden shutters that stand like statues at the margins of the space - are served with great efficiency by a warm and courteous staff.
Lovers of good fresh fish and seafood need look no further. The Greek restaurant luxury of a large fish roasted whole is often spoiled by overcooking : not here. Every mouthful is tender and juicy - cooked to perfection, or very near it. Even on a busy Friday night, when you might have to wait a bit for your fish, everything functions smoothly and without hassle. I usually dislike having my fish boned for me - it often cools on the way to the table. Here it was piping hot. Superb. Some of the best fish I’ve ever had.
I should add that the samphire was very fresh and well-prepared, the fava too, as were the steamed mussels and the house white by the litre. The best of Greek food is about showcasing the wholesomeness of good, fresh ingredients with simple but skilful preparation. It can be hard to describe, but it makes all the difference between pretty good food and great. This is a great...
Read moreI was shocked by the way the staff was treating the cats. These animals are obviously stray and that's an issue the mayor -or the equivalent person in charge- should take care of, but this fact does not give the permission to the staff to kick the cats and treat them with cruelty. I noticed something strange about their behaviour in the beginning; the cats were acting nervously and keeping themselves close to the ground as they were moving around. This is completely logical since they were feeling insecure. And then, I saw this kind of behaviour coming from multiple waiters working in that restaurant. Unfortunately I could not record this to have it as a proof, otherwise I would sue them. I don't want to imagine how they treat them when customers are not around. This review here is the least I can do, but still, maybe I could raise some awareness on the issue, or even better convince the members of this restaurant to change their attitude towards these poor animals. Apart from that, the location is pretty beautiful. Food was good. Prices reasonable given the fact that Kea is a relatively expensive summer destination to visit. Staff was quite friendly with people. I am sure they can do better with these furry...
Read moreFood is very average level considering prices. Octopus was over grilled. We have ordered beef burger, but got only some kind of meat balls with fries and waitress told that they do not have burger in their menu(but it was clearly written “beef burger”). Those meat balls were bellow average, comparing meat balls in other places on the island. Then we’ve asked for desserts - answers was: “we have no desserts”. Sounds like a joke (no desserts in the restaurant?!), but at the end of story, we had to find another place for the desserts. Conclusions: location is nice, but you can easily find another place with the same view and better food...
