Nestled in the scenic village of Athani, Lefkada, Lefkatas Tavern is a true gem that offers an authentic taste of Greek cuisine with a spectacular view to match. Our visit to this charming tavern was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
We started our evening with a delightful glass of homemade rosé wine, made from the local grapes of the island. Its light, refreshing flavor set the perfect tone for the delicious meal that followed.
The culinary highlight of our visit was the traditional Greek moussaka. This dish, with its layers of tender eggplant, perfectly seasoned meat, and creamy béchamel sauce, was a symphony of flavors that transported us straight to the heart of Greece.
Another standout dish was the fried feta cheese, drizzled with homemade honey. The contrast of the crispy, salty feta with the sweet, fragrant honey was simply divine and exemplified the essence of Greek cuisine.
For a comforting touch, we also tried the pasta carbonara. Rich and creamy with a subtle smokiness, it was a delightful surprise that added variety to our meal.
What truly made our visit special was the hospitality. The hosts at Lefkatas Tavern were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Their passion for the food and their eagerness to share their knowledge enhanced our dining experience.
The atmosphere of the tavern was warm and inviting, creating a cozy and relaxed setting. Combined with the breathtaking views of Lefkada’s coastline, it felt like a slice of paradise. Whether enjoying the sunset or the starry night, the view from Lefkatas Tavern is nothing short of spectacular.
In conclusion, Lefkatas Tavern is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the best of Greek hospitality and cuisine. The combination of delicious food, exceptional service, and a stunning view makes it a place you’ll want to return to again and again. We left with our hearts and stomachs full, eager for...
Read moreWe stopped here on the way back from Egremni, and it was one of the best lunches we have had on the island.
We started with fried calamari, courgette balls, and marinated anchovies. I can’t tell you which was better - they all had their own star quality. But it was definitely a good mix if you are unsure on what to get.
We had also added bread (I’m with an Italian, so this is a staple for a meal) and it was the best bread we have had. I think the bread here on the Ionian islands always tends to be very hard but this one was airy and springy - similar to a classic farmhouse loaf in the UK.
We chose the local rose wine, it is quite sweet so I enjoyed it very much. But I wouldn’t be able have more than the 1/2 litre they give you.
For a main course, we shared the fish of the day which was sea bream. It was perfect. I have no other words.
Feeling very full, we asked about a digestive. They recommended a local wine mixed with honey. Incredible! Very sweet so we loved it.
If you are on your way to/back from Egremni, I highly highly recommend this restaurant - the service is top! Very friendly, funny and welcoming. Beautiful views and nice...
Read moreWe came here driven by the good reviews and found the place to be overhyped.
Service and atmosphere, yes, they are good. Nice people, the view is wonderful.
The food. It looked good, but the taste, average.
Chicken gyros - chicken was cooked well, it didn’t came with fries (and yet, the most expensive gyros we’ve had so far in the last 6 days on the island) and the tzatziki was…weird. Different. Perhaps it’s an adaptation of the recipe.
Fava and tarama were ok.
And the green apple and fig salad, very poor in ingredients. 3 thin slices of apple, few fig pieces, very few parmezan pieces, NO vegetables (though, in the menu, it’s written that some vegetables are included) and a whole pile of salad leaves, which made the salad look big in size, while it wasn’t. Portion versus price, not justified.
Overall, while the food is ok, the taste is average and bland, compared to other places we’ve...
